The question was asked so suddenly that Tomioka quickly opened his eyes and turned his head to see who had spoken to him.
The expressionless face of the Pillar of Mist was all he got when their eyes met.
He thought it was a mistake on his part, that he had misheard, or that the question wasn't even meant for him.
But when Uzui stifled a loud laugh, when Kanroji stifled an exclamation of excitement and amazement, when Shinazugawa's eyes looked at him so judgmentally, it was then that he understood perfectly that Muichirou's question had been meant for him.
Even so, Giyuu didn't know what to say about it.
“Excuse me?” he managed to articulate, his voice sounding perfectly calm as it always should be.
He hoped that Tokitou would not mention the question again, or better yet, that in the silence he had taken to think about what to say, he would have forgotten it.
But the youngest of the pillars repeated what he had said, and the same reactions as before were heard again.
“Are you my brother?”
