    Will frowns back. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”

    Mike doesn’t look like he believes him. Will doesn’t blame him. “Then why do you keep leaving?”

    The world ends, and then some. Mike and Will find each other again, amidst the debris and distance.

    He’s not supposed to find Alexander Claremont-Fucking-Diaz but he’s front and center as the lacrosse team’s cause for celebration and he’s unbearably shirtless and then he can’t keep his eyes off Henry’s ass and it’s far, far too good of an opportunity to pass up.

    Henry hears all about Alex’s sexcapades, the neverending series of conquests because where Henry is like the guiding saint of men with half an interest in dick, Alex is like sex Jesus with how generously he seems to provide every woman with a shot at him. He lacks finesse, he lacks class, fucking away in dingy bathrooms and his fratmate’s beds. He’s filthy, passed around in so many hands that Henry thinks he might be more fingerprint than skin at this point.

    He bounces to the music, slick with spilled drinks and either of his tits shiny with smeared lip gloss, arm pumping. It’s overconfident, encouraging the indulgent cheers that roar when he shotguns a can of beer, dripping sticky over his chin and neck and obscene torso. Henry wants to take him apart with his teeth, to leave indents around the pronounced vein of his neck, to eat the hickeyed claims off of his skin. He fucking hates him.

    Alex presents two days before his eighteenth birthday and a week before he is expected at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Alex presents as an alpha which isn't really a shock to anyone. He's exuded all of the traits and mannerisms of one since he could talk.

    Two days after returning to the palace from the 2016 Olympics, Henry wakes up to damp sheets and a cramping in his stomach so intense he wonders briefly if his appendix has burst. His body burns both with what he is sure is a triple digit fever, and something else. Liquid heat pools at the base of spine and licks around his hips. There’s more dampness on his thighs and oh. Oh fuck.

    Henry is so relieved that they’re not dwelling on his accidental come-on that he can’t even be that offended. Alex delivers the barb with that same teasing smirk, and Henry is forced to laugh as he scoffs. “Not exactly.”

    (As a professional polo player, rodeo is a foreign world to Henry. But when his new sponsor organises a photoshoot with a top rodeo star, he finds his life turned upside down by a bronco rider with big brown eyes and dark curls. Surely this won't become a problem...)
