“Perhaps I give you too much credit.” He was smiling, now, and Childe’s breath caught in his throat. That was certainly new. “Maybe you do not listen as much as I thought you do.”
Childe processes just how different Rex Lapis, God of Contracts, and Zhongli, Wangsheng Funeral Consultant, really are.
They coincide at the worst of times, and it does some truly awful things to his heart.

This fic is worth bookmarking singularly for Childe's heartwrenching mental breakdown in ch. 21, but the slow and tantalisingly descent into love and the overall characterisations of both Tartaglia/Ajax and Morax/Zhonglie is a Michelin 3-star chef's kiss to romance-fics between these two.

A very lovingly crafted Zhongli/Tartaglia fic told at just the right tempo - I like how both are portrayed here and it's the first sentinel/guide fic I've read, so happy days that it was a good one :)
