Summary
Trolls have some weird priorities. They can’t bring themselves to invent conditioner, but they have automatic manicure kits and gossip about which blood caste produces the best in claw hygiene. Dave has never really given much thought to the state of his nails. His time is better spent memorizing lame movie quotes and actively *not* flirting with the grumpy troll version of the Second Coming.
On an unrelated note, being a teenage boy is hard. Literally. (Insert dick joke here.) It’s hard and having a hot sister doesn’t help in the slightest. Not that Dave finds his sister attractive in any way.
Nope, not going there.

Summary
Vash pauses at the door when they reach it, but Wolfwood blows past him, catching him by the elbow to pull him over the threshold. Vash’s yelp of surprise is covered by the thump of Wolfwood kicking the door shut behind them, and whatever noise he was going to make next is swallowed by the click of the lock.
“I’m gonna kiss you,” Wolfwood announces.
"Oh.” Vash recognizes the tone beneath the words—the way Wolfwood will sometimes say something out loud to gauge whether it should happen or not. It’s usually along the lines of “I’m gonna knock your teeth in.” It’s never been kissing before.
But now the moment’s here, and Vash is woefully unprepared. He should have realized when he caught Wolfwood giving him that look as he picked himself up off the ground—a look that Vash wouldn’t dare call “smitten” out loud, even if it was the only word that came to mind. Wishful thinking, right?
Wrong.

Summary
Wolfwood digs into his jacket and pries open his pack of cigs, popping his second of the night into his mouth and lighting it. The movement is practiced, instinctive, habitual. He’s done it a hundred times, hell, a thousand times, just in the time he’s known Vash.
Which makes the way Vash is staring at him this evening particularly irritating.

Summary
Vash is a mess, a trainwreck in the middle of nowhere, and most days Wolfwood feels too much like the shell of a man, haunted by his own damnation, to find their way out.
A rare thing, then, to walk into a sandstorm and see the oasis at its heart.
