"No, don't worry about me. I'll be fine," Buck muttered and walked away from Eddie.
Buck got to his Jeep and down the road before pulling over, sobbing violently in the Walmart parking lot. He hated how much a joke destroyed him, it was just two men being men. Now he's fully having a panic attack. Buck loved Eddie so much, but... Was he only attracted to guys because of what happened to him, like some sort of trauma response?

It wasn't just the word itself, of course. Buck had been called "exhausting" many times before, and he had learned to brush it off as best he could. But there were two occasions when the word had hit him particularly hard, when it had cut straight to the bone and left him reeling. And now, the third time it’s happened, as he stared at the letters on the page, he felt a familiar sense of dread creeping up on him once again.

"Eddie?" The blond mumbles, staring at the ground. Beside him, his best friend makes a questioning hum. Buck doesn't meet his eyes, feeling his heart begin to pound again.
When he doesn't say anything else, Eddie knocks his shoulder against Buck's. "What's up?" He prompts, unaware.
Buck swallows, and then finally says, "I tried to kill myself last night."
(Or, Buck's been struggling for a long time, and he finally breaks.)

Contrary to all evidence, Buck didn’t really enjoy writing - or rather he did enjoy writing, would even say he was good at it, but he never wrote for pleasure. He looks over at the countertops, freshly cleaned; looks at the sink, empty of dishes and wonders if he should have cleaned the drawers as well but he shakes his head, wipes away the tears blurring his vision and looks back down at the page he was writing.
