Summary
What if, instead of just glimpsing gold at their performance of “How It’s Done”, they turned the entire Honmoon gold. They did jump out of a plane without parachutes after all, it's hard to beat that.
Unfortunately, the golden Honmoon did NOT rid Rumi of her patterns.
Now Rumi has a few things on her checklist.
One: Confront Celine. The patterns aren't gone like she said they would be.
Two: Tell her girls. Now that her only hope of getting rid of her patterns has been dashed, they need to know. If these marks are permanent, she can't hide them from Mira and Zoey forever.
Three: Tell Bobby, hopefully with help from her girls. If the patterns keep spreading like they have her whole life, eventually clothing isn't going to be able to hide them. Bobby is the only one she can trust to help her do damage control.
As usual, things never go to plan.

Mira's hands tightened around her glass. "So... what are you implying?" She was uncertain if she even wanted the answer.
Zoey hesitated and whispered, "I'm saying... I think she might be harming herself."

The first noticeable occasion happened over breakfast.
Rumi sat at the table with her phone, scrolling through comments with a small smile, mostly amused, kind of overwhelmed at the song’s reception.
Zoey leaned over her shoulder, reading the posts Rumi was looking at, when her scent flared with shock, “Nope. Not a chance. No thank you, ma’am. We’re not reading that, absolutely not.”
Rumi looked up at her and raised an eyebrow, “What?”

Summary
Rumi is a prodigy PHD student who wants to study the biology of Pandora, a planet far from her dying planet. She hopes the planet has the key to solving the climate crisis. If she is diligent and careful, she might be able to accomplish it, as long as she doesn't interact with the natives. They don't know about humans yet.
Zoey (friendly name for Zokeri) is very familiar with humans. They destroyed her ancestral home and killed her tribe's chief. The remnants of her tribe all have to seek refuge with a section of the ash tribe on the far coast. Though they are accepted, cultural differences keep her world unstable and it doesn't help that she has a crush on the Chief's daughter.
Mira (friendly name for Mirkatkaina) hates her new home, its cold, its noisy, it smells like fish and she has to mix in with the sea Metkayina and deal with all their issues on top of her own clan's. Like the one main ash clan, her father is tempted to ally themselves with the starpeople, though that would cause an uproar. It would especially upset the traumatized cute girl she really wants to mate with.
Jinu the horse was bred for one thing. War. He can't have war though, so he chooses all other forms of chaos.
