You never wanted any of this.
You hadn't meant to spiral down the rabbit hole that led straight to Hell. You hadn't meant to become the target of fate's twisted plan. You had just been trying to do the right thing, to do right by him. You were a good person. A good friend. Your eyes were bright with a light that the world hadn't quite managed to snuff out yet, but God knows it was trying its best.
You weren't crazy, your heart wasn't black, and you were trying to be the best person you could be...
Wasn't Hell meant for those who deserved it?

You were just a kid hoping to find some independence out in Gotham. But you got more than you bargained for when the circus comes to town and fate gets you tangled up in a web of deceit, nightmares, murder and mayhem. But what's done can't seem to be undone as the spider of this particular web won't be letting go any time soon, no matter how much you try to wiggle free.
You can't help but feel like you have fallen right into the arms of the devil himself. The devil that takes the form of the man you hate most in this world. The man you once called 'friend'.

That's it, that's all he's got.
So it doesn't make sense for them to want this promise of him that he couldn't break if he wanted to, if only for the words already being sewn too deeply into the fabric of his bleeding soul for him to even think of walking away, but he makes his vow anyway.

At least, if all else goes....he'll always have those promises.

So this is a series about Kai, mostly from his perspective, because I was thinking about it and, taking his recklessness, his having raised Nya all on his own from such a young age, and his shitty coping mechanisms into consideration, it seems to me that he is extremely self-destructive, even self-hateful despite the 'cocky' show he puts up, and this is basically looking deeper into that, into what might be going on in his head and behind the scenes and things like that.
Jump on in if this sounds good to you!(and even if it doesn't, just read the damn thing anyway-) the water's great!(and depressing :D)
If you have any requests for particular scenes from this show, you might wanna suggest them because I do not remember enough about this show at all, I just really felt like writing this. Only things about Kai tho, it doesn't necessarily have to be from his POV but it has to be mostly related to him since he's the focus of this.

"What sort of question is that?" was all Zoro could think to say. "Of course I want to be free."
This seemed to give the captain pause. He looked down at where Zoro's manacled hands were placed on the table, and he studied them for a moment.
"Okay," he said, meeting his eyes. "But Zoro has to make a promise."
...Just like that? The captain was willing to let him go as long as he agreed to do something? The price was likely to be steep, but as long as his freedom was guaranteed, there wasn't much not worth that cost.
"What is it you want?"
The captain's brows furrowed. His lips—usually smiling—were set in a firm line. He drew in a breath, opened his mouth, and what he said, words falling like anchors, was—
"Join my crew!"
Zoro's luck must really be terrible. First Marines, then pirates, and now bounty hunters... The captain was never going to let him live this down...
