After a mysterious alien energy blast strikes both Autobots and Decepticons during battle, they’re transformed into hybrid organic-Cybertronian beings. They look mostly human on the outside, but underneath their synthetic skin they still possess sparks, metallic structures, enhanced strength, glowing optics, and lingering Cybertronian traits. They can no longer transform, and neither humans nor scientists fully understand what they’ve become.
To prevent worldwide panic, the U.S. government secretly confines them inside a heavily secured military base. The Decepticons are isolated separately while the Autobots struggle to adapt to fragile new bodies, human behavior, and the psychological fallout of losing their Cybertronian forms.
