It's been three months since Clark was shot with a bullet of lavender kryptonite, impressing him with false memories of his marriage to Bruce Wayne. After a tumultuous balancing act between truth, lies, and certain death, Clark is finally free of the kryptonite's influence, but not its after effects. In the aftermath, Clark confessed his true feelings for Bruce, who eventually let his walls down long enough to give dating a shot.
Now in the midst of a brand new(ish) relationship, they aim to keep it business as usual for Batman and Superman. But the League is getting suspicious, and when an old face returns under strange circumstances, their delicate relationship may not be able to weather the storm.

Summary
Lex Luthor has sponsored the new wing of the Metropolis Science Museum, and Clark and Bruce both suspect foul play. While in the geology exhibit, they discover an unknown strand of kryptonite, which cripples Clark almost immediately. Bruce drags him away, but just as they're catching their breath, a mysterious gunman fires on Clark from the shadows, piercing his heart with a bullet, specially made from Luthor's new find.
Bruce gets Clark to a safe house and manages to extract the bullet, but not before saving Clark from its strange effects. When he wakes up, Clark recognizes Bruce. But not as his caped companion, or a fellow member of the League. They aren't competitors, allies, or even just friends.
According to Clark, Bruce Wayne is his husband.

A literal domesticated feline animal that one could get from the pet store and not just a person with some cat-like personality traits. There’s no other explanation as to why his familiar acts like every single asshole cat meme to ever exist.
On the off chance his soulmate is a real human being, well… He would never tell his mother this, she raised him too well, but sometimes Clark wishes his soulmate’s familiar was making him feel just as miserable.

Bruce peels his eyes away from the monitors to look down at the menace on his lap and barely contains a look of disgust. Big blue eyes stare up at him as he rests his chin on Bruce’s thigh, and as their eyes meet, the pathetic, whimpering little whines are replaced by excited huffs, the clickity clack of dancing paws on concrete, and the rhythmic thumping of his tail hitting the leg of the table.

So much changed with Peter’s body chemistry after the bite that new things are still coming up that surprise him. One day he and Tony are having a fight and Peter is so stressed out he ends up having a seizure. Seizures… great, so that’s a thing now, and Tony has decided that the best thing is for Peter to stop being Spider Man. The more the seizures happen, the more protective Tony becomes. All Peter wants is to have his life back.
OR
May asks Tony to take joint custody of Peter to help with the Spider Man thing and this new stress seizure issue. Peter learns that sometimes parents do what’s necessary even if it’s not a popular choice with their kids.

It's been two months since Peter last saw him… since they fought. It's been two months since he stormed out of the lab and Mr. Stark told him that he shouldn't come back. Peter is sixteen, he's old enough to stay home alone while May is out of town, even if that's not his aunt's first choice. It's ok though, because Peter has this. He can do this, no problem. Everything is fine. Then the power goes out and along with it the heat. Still, he's fine. It's all good. He'll just bundle up and wear extra layers, and wrap himself up in a blanket. And then there's a burglary in the building. It's no problem because he's Spider Man. Except it is a problem because the burglar was trying to get into his apartment and now the door knob is broken, and he can't lock the door and he's completely freaked out! Dark apartment, no lock on the door, and oh yeah, he's shaking. And he still has two more nights on his own without May. Not knowing where else to go, he goes to Stark Tower to find Tony.

Whenever he has something good going for him, it's either taken from him, or he ends up giving it up by means of his own stupidity: case in point, it's almost Christmas and he doesn't have a soul to spend it with. Peter landed on his side, ears ringing violently and thoughts hazy. He was shaking, or at least he thought he was, until he hazily looked down. The building was shaking. He snapped his head around to look through a window and watched dust and rubble start to fall past the glass.
“--Peter,” Karen said loudly in his ear when the ringing stopped just enough for him to hear the AI’s urgent voice. “You need to get out of there. The building’s unstable. It’s going to collapse---”
Peter furiously moved for the window he’d broken on his way in but he knew with growing dread that he wasn’t going to make it. His mask lit up at the last second, and he ducked into the only spot highlighted in green.
When he looked up, it was to see the building come down on top of his head.
