His eyes adjust to the harsh sunlight enough for him to make out the captain’s face. He looks unbelievably young, younger than himself even. Chin length blonde hair hangs greasy in his face, over an eye patch covering his left eye. His right eye is blood red, and the sight of it sends shivers down Leorio’s spine.
“What’s your name?” he says finally.
“L— Leorio,” he says.
“You will address me as Captain, or Captain Kurapika,” he says curtly, before turning to talk to a woman. “Keep him in the brig.”
“Alright, Captain. Why though?” he hears her ask.
Leorio sees him shrug slightly. “We need a doctor,” he says, before turning away. “Welcome aboard the Scarlet Eye, Leorio.”
