Summary
Jason doesn’t know what he expects to find in Gotham at two in the morning– but Tim Drake drinking in one of the most seedy bars in the Crime Alley certainly isn’t one of them.
He heads into the run-down joint, looking for one of his contacts, when he spots the black-haired teen slumped over the bar, head hung low with three empty glasses around him.
A fourth half-empty glass is being nursed in his hands.
There’s a familiar shift from shock into anger that has him stomping over and grabbing the drink (whiskey on the rocks- what the hell) from his hands. The sixteen year old blinks languidly at the empty space between his fingers as if he hasn’t quite processed that his glass is gone.

Or, after having Robin stripped from him- Tim is coping.
Jason decides to take matters into his own hands.

if asked one week ago – hell, even one day ago – he would have bit back something snarky like, ‘join you? a psychopath killer? sure, why not.’
this was the man that beat him to the brink of death multiple times.
but, bruce was gone. dick didn’t want him. the residents of the wayne household saw him as a crazy man spreading false hope.
tim didn't have anything to lose.
OR battle for the cowl goes differently: dick gave the robin mantle to damian a few days earlier, and tim is doing anything to cling to family.

“Hey kid, you alright?” the red helmet tilted down at him, the cold stare pining Tim down like a bug. “Don’t worry, I’ll take out the trash soon enough.”
The Red hood, Tim didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the aspect of his almost murderer coming to his rescue, granted he didn’t know it was Tim, if he did maybe he’d have just watched and enjoyed the show while the boy wonder got beat by some random thugs. Hell he’d probably even congratulate them on finishing the job he couldn’t.
