Summary
Midoriya Izuku just wants to lead a quiet, peaceful life. This is foiled by the fact that a) he can see spirits, b) his good nature demands that he help anyone he sees in trouble, and c) he, by all rights, should not exist.
Helping the heroes who have fallen victim to the new quirk-breaking drug is a terrible idea for many reasons, the first and most important being that he hates attention and avoids it like the plague. But he's the only one who can help, so he does.
This is, Izuku decides as he breaks in, more trouble than it's worth.

His mother is dead, and nothing has changed, except he forgets what he likes for breakfast. And Erik looks at him like - like he doesn't understand the language Charles is speaking. Like he has to strain a bit to make sense of the man in front of him.

LOVELY. Perfect characterization. Finally someone makes Charles optimistic but HUMAN, being as sarcastic as Erik, as playful and dangerous as him. Finally he isn't some perfect little prince. I love sassy Charles and incredulous Erik, real romance with fights and deep understanding.

Summary
Loving other men won't get him anywhere. Charles knows this. With women, he can find company, companionship, and open affection. A home, perhaps children, a shared life. With men it's hiding, and fumbling in dark corners, and shrinking away from each other as soon as possible. Never speaking of it again. He'd gotten around enough at university to know the difference between wanting a woman and wanting a man. Erik won't be any different, Charles knows, and the knowledge sears across him like a whip.
