When Quentin wakes up in a different bed than usual after another evening of using the emotion-stealing bottles, the first thing he sees is Eliot in bed with him. It’s hard to tell, but he’s pretty sure Eliot isn’t wearing any clothes. Then, Quentin’s gaze catches on Margo's arm wrapped around him, only then noting the added weight.
Before he can start to spiral, he notices blonde hair and a smaller body tucked behind Eliot, seemingly just as naked. Then he sees another, tanned arm over Alice's back, and a glimpse of Penny’s stubble pressed into Alice’s shoulder.
Huh. Quentin thinks dimly, and then he falls back asleep.
(Or: Skipping through timelines, Jane desperately searches for a road to victory, and any possible permutations of her chosen few having sex don't interest her-- though these permutations happen anyway.)

“Well, that’s not my fault, Diana. You’re sending me lightweights. Service life is difficult at the best of times: danger, isolation, a slow and ugly descent into alcoholism. If these poor kids can’t deal with the hardship that being a member of MI5 requires, I can’t be held responsible.”
“You threw a beer bottle at Simmonds’ head.”
Normal people, when their long-term employee and nemesis (and possible crush?) unexpectedly resigns, would make the effort to move on. Jackson Lamb is not normal people.
In which watching Lamb wage war on a series of new office managers becomes a spectator sport, and one in which no filing is going to get done any time soon.

Lamb holds the collar out. “Put it on.”
River eyes it, swallows. “Why would I put it on?” he asks testily. He doesn’t like this line of questioning, in that he does like it, wants to keep following it, but he shouldn’t. This is dangerous.
“Because you said you were good at this,” Lamb explains, dragging his eyes up and down assessingly, “and I want you to show me.”

The problem is River.
Or, more specifically, it’s the way that every time Louisa blinks, the afterimage of River laying on the ground between those shelves, covered in debris, is burned into the backs of her eyelids. It wouldn’t have been so bad, probably, if he hadn’t had to take off immediately to deal with that folder, or if Louisa had said fuck the debrief and gone with him. If they hadn’t been separated right after making it out of the hatch, they — or, at least, Louisa would probably be fine.
But they were. Separated.

Post season 3. Louisa and River share a bowl of dry cereal, a difficult conversation, and a bed, in that order.

“Your favourite? Out of our kids: that collective waste of perfectly good kidneys sitting around downstairs.”
“I’m not picking a favourite, that’s horrible.”
He eyes her with amusement. “You let the ‘our kids’ part go though.”
Catherine doesn’t play favourites. She would have assumed Jackson Lamb to be the same.
