Summary
Thomas had been mesmerized by that gaze since the very start, when the Holy Father, then Cardinal Vincent Benítez, had looked up at him in that small room in the Santa Marta, hands clasped gently in his lap, with nothing to his name but a few official documents. Thomas had felt his heart skip a beat when those kind yet strong, unyielding eyes had settled into his own, Vincent’s lips quirking upwards just so.
At the end of the Conclave, Thomas Lawrence had thought the worst to be behind him. But, apparently, God wasn't entirely done with him yet. First, he'd had to deal with the late Holy Father denying his resignation. Then with Adeyemi and Tremblay nearly toppling the Church over. And now...now Thomas had fallen in love with the Pope.

Vincent Benítez considers himself an undemanding and humble man. Terms like envy, jealousy, and possessiveness are foreign concepts to him. Every rule, however, needs an exception. And that exception is Thomas Lawrence, Dean of the College of Cardinals and recently appointed Papal Advisor.
Or: Thomas has a major glow-up after entering a relationship with Vincent. Unfortunately, Vincent isn't the only one noticing. And even though he'd never doubt his loyalty, he just needs to make sure that Thomas is his, and only his.

Summary
Thomas is interrupted from his work - the first somewhat free Saturday since the Conclave and even if he's done a lot, there's still work to be caught up on. Then the pope calls and Thomas goes to him as he always does, leaving plans for seating arrangements and a lonely evening behind.

Summary
Thomas’ eyes blink open, then fall on Vincent.
“Vincent,” he murmurs blearily, voice hoarse. Then, he seems to register he's in his own apartment, outside of the Vatican. He rockets onto his elbows. “Vincent! What—”
Vincent holds up the apartment key. “I let myself in. I hope you don't mind.”
“Of course not! But—how did you get here?”
“I walked.”
“Through Rome?”
“Well, I didn't walk through Venice.”

Thomas and Vincent test the limits of their self-control. (It’s rapidly dwindling, given they have the keys to each other’s apartments.)
