Summary
Continuing from Season 5 Episode 8, the party decides to go to Stacey's party except Mike. After Will confessed his feelings he's confused and doesn't know how to handle it. While Mike stays at home like an ass, Will meets his new boyfriend.
Skipping over the summer Will and Mike haven't spoken. Not even once. Will is having the time of his life, he's got an amazing boyfriend is heading off to college. What he doesn't know is Mike Wheeler isn't out of his life, he doesn't know he's actually his new roommate.
Mike has to deal with Will being in love with his new boyfriend in front of him and he hates it. Hates someone else loves him the way Mike could've done. If only he wasn't so scared.

Will Byers is the top student at Hawkins High, perfect grades and is trying to get through his senior year of high school to graduate as valedictorian and go to Yale. However Joyce is convinced attending a prestigious private school will give him a better shot at getting to where he wants. Will is scared to have such a sudden big change of environment, he isn't prepared for just how competitive the place is...or how he'll make an enemy on his first day.
How could his presence cause someone such irritation?
That someone being Mike Wheeler.
Mike felt it was his duty from day one to make Will's life a living hell, to let him know that he is nothing. Mike is just better than him. He'll always win.
Will wanted and urged himself to stay away from him, but there was something about him that sparked curiosity within him.
Maybe Mike felt that way too...

Will abruptly shuts the comic book and sits up facing Mike.
“You’ve been acting weird lately, Mike,” he says.
“What?”
“I said you’ve been acting weird.”
“I’ve been acting weird?” Mike says, taken aback.
Mike had no clue where this was coming from. Had Will noticed those stray glances? Did he already know his secret? Was he messing with Mike by doing the stuff he was doing? He had so many questions about Will and then he had the audacity to say that Mike was acting weird.

His mind would even wander into the scenario of murder.
The thought made him bite his lip, before remembering he had a project to do. He wiped his face with his hands, and turned back to his project partner.
Some of the party has witnessed this too, but chose not to question it. Not even Will himself. He'd noticed Mike was a little more touchy than usual, defensive when the group teases Will, even had a soft, relaxed voice when it came to talking with Will that he wouldn't use with anyone else. Will thought that maybe, he's just making sure that he's okay after the events of him going missing and being possessed.
But he doesn’t think that was the reason why Mike was staring at him while kissing El at a school dance.
