In retrospect, Kusuo reflects, he should not have agreed to accompany Kokomi to this work function. Not only for the obvious reasons that Kusuo is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a party person and that work events such as this are inevitably fraught with insincerity and hidden tensions, but also because he'd inadvisably agreed to let Kokomi introduce him to the fellow partygoers as her husband. Which he is, but that doesn't make it any better of an idea to let people know that he is the one marking the world's most beautiful woman as taken.
