After his death-defying stunt in Svartalfheim, Loki is pardoned for his crimes and given a chance to return to Midgard and help the Avengers find his scepter. His only goal is to get out of Asgard and he certainly has no desire to make friends, but there's something about the Black Widow...
Steve's had an interesting time adjusting to the 21st century, but it's been a bit easier since the Invasion of New York. If it was good for one thing, it was that it introduced him to Natasha Romanoff, his best friend (whom he sorta-kinda made out with on a mall escalator and whom he would very much like to do that again with).
Needless to say, Loki and Steve don't exactly click.

After Loki is sentenced to spend a decade assisting the mortal 'heroes', he finds himself settling into his new situation with a surprising ease. Though he is unsure where he stands with his (former?) family, and is still hurt by their lies, he is finally free of his glamour; can breathe, and feel, and be.
And for the first time, Loki simply has fun, enjoying his life in a body now free of aches and irritation. He practices his seidr, battles and banters and spends time with his shield-siblings, who turn out to be delightful companions indeed, perhaps even … friends.

Thor is frozen in place, his former expression of brotherly concern gone, replaced with horror.“You would-” Loki slurs, and his grin is horrible, red and desperate and painful. His body is still seizing but he’s laughing silently, a dreadful clicking noise coming from the back of his throat even as blood trickles down his chin. “You would- call this- brother?”
----Loki, gravely injured, turns blue after being pummeled by the Hulk. Unfortunately, Odin has neglected to tell Thor the truth behind Loki's birth. This causes more problems than you'd think.

Only a mage driven to insanity or desperation burned their own tissues for seidr.
Loki had far too much experience with both and even he wasn't fool enough.
But the Norns had never had mercy for the likes of Loki...Stripped of the body he'd always known, Loki is bound in his true form, that of a frost giant runt barely on the cusp of adolescence. Yet no one knows what lies under the false image of the disgraced second Prince of Asgard, certainly not Thor. Odin knows full well that Loki would not survive the truth of his lineage being uncovered, and he still had use of his stolen relic.
However – weak from months in Asgard's dungeon after barely recovering from Svartalfheim and Thanos' ministrations – Loki is stolen from Asgard's dungeons by Thor. As the only known wielder of two Infinity Stones, the Avengers hope to use Loki to uncover the reason behind their appearance on Earth. Especially in light of the Mind Stone taken form as their newest ally: the Vision.
But they are not the only ones who have use of a bound child mage.

Following Loki's attack on New York, Loki is put before Odin for judgment and when Odin speaks of how it's only because of Frigga he is not being executed, Loki goads Odin into carrying it out. Much to Loki's shock, Odin calls Loki's bluff, but before the execution can be carried out, the TVA intervenes. Loki is ultimately pruned and left face to face with Alioth, ready to accept death once more when two very familiar Midgardians save him.

Thor watched as Thanos's merciless grip around his brother's throat tightened, the life draining from Loki's eyes as the mad Titan crushed his neck; pierced his best friend’s heart, slaughtered his people and took away the only family he still had left. He watched as the flames consumed his home, reducing everything he cherished to ashes, while the Grandmaster’s ship crumbled into oblivion.
He begged the Norns for a second chance as he clung onto his once-again-brother’s cold dead body, his cries for mercy swallowed by the inferno.
He wished, and when he opened his eyes back in his room in his long-destroyed home-land, six months after Loki’s fall into the void; he knew he had to change everything. He was given a second chance, and he wouldn’t live to regret it this time.

Loki was supposed to go back to Asgard to assume control of the throne after saving Thor on Svartalfheim. He was supposed to be the portent for Ragnarok...too bad fate didn't ask for his opinion. After all, fate didn't plan for Loki to find an abandoned baby elf. Nor did Loki plan to discover how intriguing Jane Foster can be. And what the heck do the Avengers and his trickster of a daughter have to do with any of this?
Loki makes a different choice. But can Loki truly escape the fate that has been his since the beginning? Can the trickster learn to love? With Thanos rising and the infinity war looming, the universe may come to an end if the nine realms can't reconcile with the prince it once rejected. Eventual Jane/Loki. No, Tony isn’t pleased about the fact that Loki is now a part of the Avengers. He can’t really forgive, he definitely can’t trust, but team is team so he does his best to deal with it. When a magical mishap turns Loki into a dragon – of all things! – it's for some reason still Tony he seeks out for help and protection. So now Tony is stuck with a clingy and demanding dragon for company, until things can hopefully be set right.
The rest of the Avengers are not amused, but getting to know Loki in this new skin is letting Tony see the team trickster in a different light. Maybe he’s really not all bad?
