Stanley's boss gives him an ultimatum: "get another degree or kiss your job goodbye." He reluctantly agrees out of fear of being fired, even though working *and* attending graduate school means he'll have less time to listen to the sweet voice of his favorite audiobook narrator.
But when he sets foot in a classroom for the first time in over a decade and hears his professor speak out loud, Stanley's world is turned upside down. How is he supposed to keep a straight face in class when he knows what his teacher sounds like in bed?

Stanley's brows furrowed as he thought back on it. There hadn't been a loading screen, had there?
No, there hadn’t been. Thinking about it now, Stanley couldn't remember anything that would normally signal a reset, save for feeling like he had.
So, they weren't in a game. It was strange, as Stanley wasn't sure exactly how they had stopped being in a game, but weirder things had happened in the parable.

After a seemingly endless string of loops of the same story, Stanley and The Narrator were quick to notice when something was different. The changes were subtle, but they held implications for the very nature of The Parable! What does their story mean, if it isn't a video game? What are the conventions of this new medium? And perhaps most importantly, what will the age rating be?

Lately, though, The Narrator and him had had the talk. Not the birds and the bees talk, obviously, they were grown men. They both knew it was something along the lines of it, though. “Give me privacy in the broom closet”, “let me mute my mic”, “make the broom closet more comfortable”, “don’t break things when I leave, it’s distracting”, “distracting from what?”, “Shut up Stanley, I know what you do in that closet”, “and I know what you do on your breaks, smart ass”.
