As Tommy awoke he realized three separate things at once: remembering shit hurt like a bitch, he was once again aware, and Sam definitely had enough time to tell everyone that he very much was not.

In a split-moment decision that he would probably eventually regret, he decided to keep his break from dealing with the bullshit of being himself going a little longer. “Uhm… hi? Are you… were you someone to me?” he cringed internally at that pitiful attempt at imitating the speech pattern he had the day before. And then again when he saw Tubbo’s face fall.
Tubbo’s expression changed very quickly though. Realization flashed on his face. What about, Tommy had no clue. But right after a determined shine appeared in his eyes, his smile turned sly. "I’m your platonic husband, Tubbo. And the lanky cryptid behind me is your other platonic spouse, Ranboo” he hadn’t faltered for a second saying that. If Tommy hadn’t known any better, he would have believed him.
He did know better though, and he was very well aware that he never married his best friend, and he had no clue why the fuck Tubbo was trying to convince him otherwise. What kind of weird ass game was he playing?

Summary
Tubbo was having a bad streak.
It started when Dream challenged one of his claims and Tubbo found himself unable to counter his challenge without revealing his true nature to the members of his cabinet. Letting Dream put his filthy and greedy little hands on his best friend as he dragged him away from his domain was one of the hardest things he’d had to bear. But it was a sacrifice he’d needed to make.
Wilbur, the main founder of L’Manburg, hadn’t really been fond of gods and their schemes, probably because he was fed up with the ones he had in his family, and the sentiment was shared among the citizens. If they found out that their very recently elected president was himself a god there would have been an uproar and the city would not have survived that.
So Tubbo grit his teeth and let Dream think he’d won.

Techno never had much of an interest in mortal affairs, so for him to get involved too was truly bad luck. If Tubbo believed in beings higher than himself he might have thought that they hated him.

Summary
As soon as the chance to participate in the elections presented itself, something changed within Tubbo. Tommy had taken notice of it immediately. Despite popular belief, his friend had always been a chaotic little shit. He wasn’t the meek lover of bees that everyone viewed him as. But he’d never been the cold and calculating kind either. He was curious and driven, but not ambitious. And he had no care for power.
And yet, there he’d been, writing down his name for the presidential position. Not even Tommy, who everyone always considered far more arrogant and full of himself, had dared.
