So, it didn’t start out like this.
Alfred would scoff at the statement, about how Bruce was trying to justify the whole situation to himself. It had started out as a simple design, black everything with black outlines and black hood. It got a little more intense as the world went on, got wind of his ghost on the streets, and became scared of The Bat . So Bruce got a little more creative with it, Alfred and him had a good laugh over the name, the scare, and Alfred had a vicious streak of humor that he had passed onto his ward-
So now the suit had a visible bat-theme, an insignia to drape in the shadows and to paint across the streets of Gotham.
It only took a year into the whole charade of heroism for Bruce to overhear a conversation between some goons- some low level thug hired by the Riddler this week- about nothing at all pertaining to what the hell the Riddler was doing in the sewers but instead:
“ The Batman can fly, you know, I’ve seen his wings.”

There was a dead body.
He was hugging Xie Lian’s dead body.
A sob tore itself from San Lang’s throat when the realization finally stuck with him. Then another when he felt the already familiar pull of ascension. In a burst of panic, San Lang used spiritual energy to turn the body snuggled in his arms into ashes and then willed them to take a form of a diamond ring. The ashes mended themselves to his will very willingly then almost made his palm burn when he gripped them too tight. That was the last thing he did before he once again appeared in the Heavenly Capital.
He stayed, this time. Somebody had to take care of all the trash up here.
And thus began the story of Hua Cheng, later known as the Grieving God.Series

My take on a hualian role reversal fic.
Hua cheng failed. His only goal in life was to serve and protect his highness. But he couldn't. That day, at lang'er bay, his highness decided to take on xianle's resentful spirits and prevent the second human face disease epidemic. And he paid his life for it. And hua cheng, his most devout believer, could not do anything about it. He couldn’t even take revenge on behalf of his highness. The calamity had disappeared.
The now ascended hua cheng decided to take advantage of the heavenly resources at his disposal to find bai wuxiang.
Meanwhile another calamity watches over his most devout believer and attempts to befriend him again.
Au where xie lian is a ghost king, hua cheng is a god. Oo also hua cheng is not dead.
