Rocky, please. I’m trying to spare you right now.
Basically, Grace gets exposed to a dangerous amount of radiation during an EVA and doesn't want to tell Rocky bc of what happened to Rocky's crew <3
THIS IS A REWORKED VERSION OF "TEMPEST" - after some comments, I wanted to keep the soul of the story, but make it more scientifically plausible. While there are still probably some inaccuracies, I still hope this isn't as messy as before.

It hadn’t even been twenty four hours since Leon emerged from underneath the gigantic monster he’d just sliced to death, soaked in its blood and intestines, and as he’d flashed a grin all Piers had been able to think was holy fuck I want to marry you. Of course, since he was a gigantic Loser with a capital L, Piers had only raised an eyebrow at Leon and said “You do know you can kill them without getting trapped under them?”
Leon had laughed, the kind of laugh that made Piers’ insides flutter and his heart do stupid little flips. “Oh,” Leon had drawled, flipping his bloody hair out of his eyes. Not that it’d helped much, not with how his face was like painted red. “I just like what it does to my skin,” he’d continued, his grin white in contrast to all the red. And once again Piers had been struck with how stupidly he was crushing on Leon and how little there was he could do about it.
In an ideal world, Piers could’ve just walked up to Leon and asked him if he wanted to grab dinner together, maybe drinks, coffee would be good too. In this world, however, Leon was in a long term relationship and Piers was not a home wrecker, thank you very much.

Knocking on the door she steeled herself. It's not like they hadn't had lunch together before. Sometimes Leon would surprise her at work as a form of checking in. But she'd never been to his apartment.
The door opened and she was greeted with the sight of Leon. Her breath was stolen from her however as she sees two sets of eyes peering at her from behind him. They all had identical looks of suppressed excitement like they'd been waiting anxiously for them but didn't want to show it.
Grace felt like this perhaps shouldn't be as big of a surprise as it felt like. Getting details out of Leon Kennedy was like pulling teeth, and getting personal information was ten times worse.

Maybe it would've been better if he had taken her away himself upon their first meeting instead of digging deep into the doctor's torture chamber of a facility, believing she'd escape unharmed by herself. Maybe it would've saved her a lifetime of trauma and grief. Regardless of her affiliation with the FBI, Grace was still young, inexperienced in the horrific life Leon had lived for 28 years. But God Almighty, for better or worse, she was exactly the way Leon was when this all began.

He might not be that same rookie cop anymore, but that rookie cop still existed in Grace.

The fight between Robert and Shroud ends much differently. He had still gotten away in the nick of time and the bomb had still been stuck to his suit. However, the explosion had left Robert with injuries so severe that it was a miracle he'd survived. Regardless of how life-altering his injuries were, SDN was still willing to take a chance on Robert. Managing his disabilities and mentoring the team was the hardest balancing act of his life.
Will Robert fuck up his only chance of becoming Mecha Man again? Or will he manage to contain it all, and find himself growing a little too close to a certain flaming asshole?

The comment Flambae was about to make died on the tip of his tongue. Any retort he could’ve possibly thought of scrambled with the butterflies ramming against the insides of his stomach, silenced by the alarms screaming behind his eyes. Was this some kind of trick? Was he about to jump him? What the fuck is happening? And why was Flambae freaking the fuck out over some few choice words that seem really close to a genuine compliment?

Punch Up is pretty sure Robert thinks he's been asked to join their date night. To be fair, were it anyone besides Robert, they would've figured it out about six dates ago, but their beloved dispatcher still grapples with the concept that people might actually find him attractive and ask him on a date. Granted, that iswhat had happened, kind of, but the main idea was that Robert didn't eat enough and they always went out to a really filling restaurant. So it was actually Punch Up and Coupé attempting to get him back to a healthy weight post-coma. The date was incidental.
It's fine. He figures it out eventually, and they even manage to convince him that, no, really, they do want him there. In return, he decides to take them somewhere extra special.

Chase is technically underage, he’s a year away from being able to drink but the bartender didn’t bother to check his ID. Chase has always looked a little older than he was, it works in his favor now.
Nobody at a hero bar like this would assume he was so young.
“How the fuck do you think that?” Chase asks, spits. His hands still shake with the memory of it. The beer in his hand shakes with the tremors of his hands. “How the fuck do you do it?”
Mechaman sighs, deep, disappointed. He leans back, taking his whiskey with him.
The rest of the Brave Brigade was downstairs, drinking in victory, dancing with the other heroes, celebrating.

The longer he thought about it, the less he understood why he was doing what he was doing. There was a seventy percent chance that if she really was busy, he would never bring up the subject again, ever. It felt like blowing a farce on an empty spot, because the truth was quite easy – the team was making progress.
Easy to see how much better it was for them, without pressure, but with praise for their achievements. And this?Robert seems to be deliberately trying to ruin everything.
