He can’t ask Gale for help. Gale might have the best chance of finding any sort of cure to his current undesirable condition, but he doesn’t want to turn to him. Something about being vulnerable and in need in front of Gale grates at Astarion’s mind.
He isn’t accustomed to anyone standing up for him like this, not without wanting something in return. And the thought that he could, just for once, lean into that—lean on him—sits uncomfortably close to tempting.

The skin along his jaw remained paler than the rest, a reminder of the raging fire and his failure. He maintained a meticulously groomed beard to cover the bulk of the marks. But the very edges still peaked from its margins to reach for his left eye and spread down his neck. His chest was a ruin.

Astarion is the only Alpha who has been to TAV (Targeted Abuse Victims), a group therapy that mostly deals with Omegas. As an "out" vampire, the staff know he's been a part of the group therapy sessions for over 200 years now, he's dependable and calm as far as Alpha's go. Always wearing heavy scent blockers, and speaking softly and infrequently to avoid startling the Omegas. But when a new Omega named Gale joins the group, he becomes the first in over 200 years to catch the Alpha's eye. Unfortunately, a little heat mishap leads them both into having to navigate a new relationship while also fighting a legal battle. Good thing Astarion's a lawyer.

It took Astarion nearly a century to save enough to get out, another decade to complete the rigorous screening and training process to be accepted into the Weave Institute’s Guardian Program.
The mission was simple. He would be the sole crew member on a small colony ship, watching over the colonists and crew while they were in cold sleep on a journey to a distant corner of the galaxy. The trip would be longer than the human lifespan. Elves were highly sought after as Guardians. Their naturally longer lifespan made them uniquely suited to shepherding sleepers on decades-long trips. The longer the trip the higher the pay.
He would be assisted by the ship's highly advanced AI program, his only companion on the long journey.

Summary
“Don’t touch me,” was something Astarion often spat out during their adventure together with their companions whenever someone got too close or tried to get his attention. It was an instinctual thing, as if all the negativity was bottled inside him after so long of having no choice but to have people touch him, and when he finally got control over his body, the bottle uncorked and he unleashed all of it to the world. Being able to tell someone “no” was a satisfying, liberating feeling for him.
Now, he needed to be touched by Gale.

A year ago Gale made Zelara choose between himself and Astarion; she chose Astarion. A few weeks ago, Gale stopped answering their messages. Zel and Astarion show up in Waterdeep and find Gale being mind-fucked by his former goddess.
What begins as an attempt to untangle the lingering threads of Mystra’s influence over Gale turns into something much bigger—and far more dangerous. The truth lurking beneath the Weave is a secret worth killing for, and Mystra will stop at nothing to keep it buried. But Gale, Astarion, and Zelara have never been good at playing by the rules.
And Astarion and Zelara have never stopped loving Gale.
Canon Caveat: I'm playing fast and loose with Mystra and Weave lore here, outright changing it for a main plot point, and I'm not sorry about it. My lore is that Mystra is a horrible person in BG3, and I want her punished. Uh, and some magic stuff definitely goes beyond 5e rules and drifts adjacent to some magical realism. If you're here for some feels and smut and seeing Mystra get destroyed, you're in the right place. If you're here for lore, you're probably not lol.

He needed to move, suddenly feeling too caged in between the table and Astarion’s body, held in place by eyes boring into the side of his head.
