There was a dramatic pause and Rumi was just about ready to whip out her phone and look it up herself before Zoey continued. “The hat rule used to just mean basic etiquette for wearing a stetson but now it basically means ‘if you wear a cowboy hat, you have to ride the cowboy. In your case, the cowgirl.”
Rumi blinked slowly, her brain not fully connecting or short-circuiting. She wasn’t sure which one, “I’m sorry…what?”
Zoey rolled her eyes and laughed.
“It means Mira just told every person in this arena to back the fuck off because you’re hers.”

In hindsight, it should have been obvious. The way Rumi refused to go to the bathhouse, her bizarre relationship with Celine, this whole thing with the Saja Boys? Mira prided herself on reading people, and she felt stupid for not seeing it sooner. The pieces were all there, just waiting to be put together.
Rumi was gay.
The night after the joint signing with the Saja Boys, Mira went to confront Rumi about her ongoing weird behavior. Instead of letting hurt feelings drive the conversation, Mira took a minute to try and figure out what might be wrong. Unfortunately, she came to the completely wrong conclusion.
Misunderstandings ensue. They talk it out.
For better or worse, everything changes.

It’s not that Batgirl doesn’t want to train her, it’s that Batgirl doesn’t want to interact with people in general. That’s what Stephanie likes to believe, in any case (she likes her excuses and she’s going to stick with them). Batgirl probably doesn’t even know the definition of social interaction. In fact, the only time Batgirl talks is when Stephanie asks to train with her, and that’s just to say ‘No’ and then continue kicking the asses of either holograms or criminals, depending on the time of day.
