Summary
Newly moved in and surrounded by unpacked boxes full of their stuff, Yuuri and Victor happen upon the one costume that – in more ways than one – pulled them to each other. It brings with it all sorts of memories, especially for Victor. Something about putting his hands on the black outfit makes him vividly recall longing for Yuuri all those years ago, wanting everything that his Eros routine promised when they were not even together.

“I don’t want you to think I’m not grateful to be here, Yuuri,” he spoke up in a rush, almost stumbling over his words. “I love being around your family. They treat me like a Katsuki, like I belong here— ”
“You do belong here,” Yuuri cut in, shifting even closer and making it impossible for Viktor to look away. “But that doesn’t mean you always have to feel grateful. You can hurt, too.”
And now Viktor was the one giving a noisy swallow, because Yuuri had hit the nail on the head, hadn’t he?
Whenever Hiroko called him ‘Vik-chan’, or whenever Toshiya gave him a fond pat on the head while they drunkenly watched soccer, Viktor felt a surge of warmth wash over him. But the warmth always eventually receded, leaving a yawning chasm that found him longing to remember the last time his own mother or father had evoked such peace in him.

“You don’t have to say anything if you don’t want to, but it’s ok to feel sad when you think about your family, Viktor,” Yuuri resumed, and Viktor couldn't trust himself to speak without flying apart at the seams.
