Little did they know how short those lives would be or that they would both yearn for the love of a hobbit by the end of them. When they are given a second chance by the Valar, with a set of requirements, they set out to complete the quest again. Maybe this time, they can avoid at least some of the danger that plagued their original journey. Or just spend more time teasing their hobbit. That would be good too.
(Time travel fix-it in which Fíli and Kíli are besotted with Bilbo, nothing goes to plan, and Bilbo will forever be confused by the minds of dwarves.)
