The Angel and the Demon, Time Lords on the run from their former employers, caught on opposite sides of a war between different factions, have been hiding on the small, insignificant planet known as Earth for a very long time. It's been nice, really. They've whiled away the thousands of years drinking wine, going to shows, and absolutely not, under any circumstances, talking about what brought them there.
Then, one day, a reminder of their past changes things and turns the precious, peaceful, fragile existence that they have carved out for themselves on Earth upside down.

Summary
A hand grasped his arm, sending a brief thrill down Merlin's nerves as he was forced around to face the person behind him. Armour gleamed in the firelight: supple chainmail glinted, and the solid iron of a pauldron curved lovingly over one broad shoulder. The length of a sword blade separated them. The point hovered, steady and sure, over Merlin's heart, braced to run him through, but he did not care about any of that. He was too busy drinking in the sight of the man before him.
He could never forget him, no matter how many centuries had passed.

“Anthony J. Crowley.” There was a note of accusation in Aziraphale's voice as he called out the name.
The tone stopped Crowley’s descent and a huge grin lit up his face. It was a thing full of teeth longing for an excuse to bite.
Aziraphale continued, using his words to establish the separation he was determined to maintain. “Tell me, have you turned respectable or are you still playing at being a flash bastard?”
For his part, Crowley looked delighted, obviously taking the statement as a challenge.“Wut,” he called, stretching the word out, sounding almost playful. “Aziraphale Fell!” He enunciated every syllable of the name and smiled the whole way through. “As I live and breathe. Well, I’m sure you’re respectable enough for the both of us.”

Summary
If they really go back and think about it... it all started with a tree. A Christmas tree, that is. Castiel is human now, and the apocalypse is not only over, it's been averted. Sam's away at NYU, finally finishing law school, and Dean's stuck in what is probably the most awkward situation of his life. He's not exactly sure how he ended up sharing a flat with Cas in Media, Pennsylvania, but he does know the curious would-be angel is sort of derailing his plans for a life of decadence and booze. Cas is trying to make the best of his humanity by exploring human holidays. Dean can't exactly complain because he's pretty much the reason Cas got his wings clipped in the first place.
Dean didn't actually want to fall in love, but how was he supposed to know it would all start with a goddamn tree?
