Charlie was floating. Suspended in some unimaginable void. He'd had to close his eyes almost immediately, a headache quickly throbbing into existence after he'd arrived. His neck still hurt like a bitch, but the blood had stopped flowing, just floating beside him, sticking to his skin.
Distantly, he heard footsteps. Which was strange, because there was no ground here. But that was definitely the sound of someone approaching; the soft flaps of bare feet against the ground.
