”Just leave it Shadow!” Sonic angrily says as he whips his head to Shadow, his hands balled up in fists as his quills stand on end.

”… I was going ask if you wanted me to stay.” Shadow finishes.
OR
Sonic has PTSD from his time captured by Eggman and gets an attack when Tails, Amy and Knuckles are on their solo adventures.

Now, Rouge would say she’s very versatile and has come to expect the weirdest of the weird. Hell, just under a year ago, she and the rest of the gang were fighting aliens and their - quite frankly, disgusting looking if Rouge said so herself - powerful leader. No Shadow, she doesn’t think of you any less just because you’ve got some alien DNA. Yes Shadow, stop calling them black creatures.
However, no one could prepare her for the scene she and Omega walked in on…

Luckily his family’s here to take him out of the heartbreak!Was watching the Sonadow Iceberg video (Voiced By Mandy) - for the hundredth time - and saw the fanart of Shadow crying, hugging a pillow listening to Taylor Swift because he found out about the Sonic/Jet thing.

Shadow’s eyes widened. Did someone fall off? No. He could see everyone who was supposed to be on the deck there. His eyes followed Charmy’s finger.
You wouldn't have seen it at first, but with a keen eye, and looking at the wooden debris, there was a hedgehog clinging onto what looked like a railing, not that far from The Maria.

After a particularly bad storm, Sonic finds himself separated from his crew, stranded at sea, then saved by a crew of pirates looking for the chaos emeralds. Forced to comply and work with the colorful cast of outlaws, Sonic finds himself growing closer and closer to them, especially the prickly captain named Shadow. What will happen if Sonic is forced to choose between his own crew, or this new crew.

Shadow’s legs move before he can stop them, barely closing the door behind him as he rushes over, kneeling in front of Sonic to be eye level with him.
He can smell a change in Sonic’s normal heart rate. His heart is racing, even more so than it usually is.
The change in scent sends signals to Shadow’s mind; old, instinctual ones. Ones he hasn’t had in a long time.
HELP HIM! his mind screams. HE’S GOING TO FAINT! ALERT HIM!
He shakes his head, mentally. Sonic doesn’t faint; at least, not that he’s seen.
Sonic’s not Maria.
And this isn’t a medical episode (to his knowledge); it’s a panic attack.
Although, Maria had had a lot of those, too.

OR 3 times Shadow uses his old service animal training to help Sonic, and the 1 time Sonic is able to help Shadow.
