Clarke’s hands itched to pick up her phone, to text Murphy, but she didn’t. She typed out the words in her head—Is he coming—and deleted them.
He would, or he wouldn’t. And that was okay.

Or, Clarke's a paramedic. Bellamy's a firefighter for the same station. Things between them are a little... complicated.

Clarke swears again under her breath.
“Whoops.” He whistles, grinning like a fool.
She slams her sketchbook closed and stands. “Take the damn chair if you’re really dying to do nothing right now, Blake. Some of us are trying to be productive.”
“I just think you need to give someone else a chance on the throne, that’s all.”

Clarke and Bellamy attend the same summer camp for the arts as teens. She's pretty sure he hates her as much as she hates him. That doesn't stop her from wanting to kiss him. He's very kissable and no one's ever bothered to kiss her before.
A kiss turns into something more, only for the whole thing to go up in flames.

“This is serious Murphy. She’s not answering the phone. She left a note.” He could hear the way Murphy sat up on his bed. He wouldn’t specifically call it a suicide note but he also couldn’t dismiss it as one either.
“What did it say?” Murphy was trying to hide the panic in his voice but Bellamy knew him too well. This was too much like Wells for either of them.
“Murphy, she can’t do this. She—she can’t” Bellamy lost his war with himself as his breathing became more difficult.
“What did it say Bellamy?” Murphy asked again, a little more firmly this time.
“I—I can’t lose her.” Bellamy’s breathing was becoming rough and jagged.
“BELLAMY! WHAT DID THE NOTE SAY!” Murphy yelled, snapping Bellamy out of the panic attack.
“I’m sorry. It just said I’m sorry. Murphy we’ve got to find her.”
“Alright well she could be sorry for a lot of things let’s not automatically go there. I’m going to call Raven and have her call the others. Where are you?”

Summary
Clarke Griffin is a Soul Keeper – which is really just a fancy word for someone who helps souls pass from this world to whatever’s next when people die. She’s been doing it for a century and a half by now and she likes it. She’s gotten to see a lot of the world and made some amazing friends along the way. All in all, it’s been a pretty good life.
She’s also learned that getting involved with Norms – people who aren’t Soul Keepers and who are going to (grow old and) die at some point, unlike her – is not a good idea, despite what Raven keeps telling her.
So when a stranger pulls her out of the way of an oncoming cab on a New York street and it feels like time stops and lightning strikes all at once when she meets his eyes, she quickly writes it off. He’s not a Keeper, so he’s off limits.
But then they run into each other again two days later, and she starts to waver… until she sees his Number – 268, meaning he has less than nine months to live.
She makes up her mind to stay away from him, despite the feelings that have already started growing inside her.

Summary
The solution really is obvious. It’s the same highly effective, airtight solution Clarke’s been using for all her problems since time immemorial. Avoidance. The root of the problem, after all, lies not in Gina, or Bellamy’s relationship with her, no. It lies in the fact that Clarke has feelings for Bellamy; the solution ergo lies in removing said feelings from the equation. Feelings, Clarke reasons, are like any living creature. Starve them for long enough, and they’ll wither away and die.
{Or, Bellamy gets a girlfriend and Clarke handles it spectacularly well}
