Hence this garden, a haven of peace, rest, and pleasure for a man who had found his Path and to whom Aeonhood extended its arms. Not that Dan Heng was in any hurry to answer this particular call, not when the War had barely ended. Not even when it might allow him to reunite with some of his companions who had crossed over to "the other side," shedding their mortal shells to mingle with the ballets of stars and solar currents as Aeons themselves.
"Time is a construct," he had once said as he helped Jing Yuan bathe, the delicate scent of verbena soap mingling with the stronger aroma of the lavender bath salts — those that Ren refused to use because they reminded him too much of Kafka. "But the fact that it is a construct does not make it inconsequential, quite the contrary. It's because time is a construct that the choice of how I choose to spend it is all the more important."
The kiss had been soft and wet and perfect.
"Trailblaze and Reverie will obtain Permanence at some point in time but before that, Ren and Jing Yuan will have Dan Heng."

“Just answer me Cian,” he cut them off, not unkindly and after a thought, pushed his barely touched drink in their direction. Balor wasn’t going to drink it — too sweet for his tastes — but it would be a shame to let it go to waste, especially since it was Cian's favorite. “Please. I’m trying to… get us on the same wavelength, as Juniper would say.”
Their hands cradled his glass with carefulness, a perfect mirror of how they had been holding their own just a few minutes before. The lukewarm cocktail was probably cold by now, but they didn't seem to realize it. Or perhaps they didn't care about it, just like how they seemed not to care about many, many other things.
“Yes, Balor. The rubies, all of them, were gifts. They were gifts for you, to be precise.”
He chuckled, weary and perhaps a little bitter.
“And I sold them.”
“And you sold them,” the farmer parroted, frustratingly neutral about Balor’s predicament.

Or : Balor and Cian have a slight misunderstanding and learn together why the untold value of gifts stays untold for a reason. It is a painful discussion, but not for the reasons one might imagine.

Olric might have been onto something with his "condemned, super creepy mine" spiel, March thought to himself, eyeing the opening in the cliff with due wariness.
Despite the resplendent spring sunshine, it was as if the stone entrance absorbed all the surrounding light. More of an abyss than an entry, the gaping chasm gave a dreadful feeling. It looks like a maw, he thought while following Olric inside, that of a lurking monster lying in wait, ready to devour those foolish enough to venture into its depths.
And someone had, in fact, been foolish enough.
… March was, perhaps, partly to blame for that.

Or : On a normally mundane 11th of Spring, March acquires a headache in the form of a set of tools in a deplorable state and a sword that doesn't deserve to be called one. “So now we’re here,” March ended with a sigh. “With a secret agent-style meeting in a high-security prison for Dan Heng to meet someone she knows ?”
The Vidyadhara inhaled slowly, as a certain sense of dread made itself known.
“Could it be related to— You know,” Stelle mumbled, eyeing him warily, “your.... past ? That Dan Feng guy everyone keeps bugging you about ? Maybe that person knew him from when he was still in prison ?”
Someone Dan Feng knew… The idea was just as intriguing as foreboding, especially considering the meeting’s context… and everything that had previously happened to Dan Heng due to infamous "people who knew Dan Feng”. Everything that happened with Bailu and, more recently, with Taoran… What a headache.

It was a mistake, he wailed inwardly, his throat tight on a silent sob as a monstrous panic clawed at his lungs to feast on his short, trembling breath. It was a miscalculation, a mistake, I should never have tried—
“Dan Heng,” the ghost in front of him urged, his hands as cold as the chains that surrounded them, heavy shackles encasing his wrists. “Dan Heng, breathe.”

This series is focused on the adventures of my Fields of Mistria OC, Cian Magorian and uses as a base material my current run of the game. There are unspoken rules to being with Yatosuke. 1. He decides when and where they get to be boyfriends or lovers, classmates or best friends. 2. Yatora doesn't.
And 3. He can touch Yatora, but Yatora can't touch him, or else he'll stop.
It takes accidentally getting drunk off coffee for Yatora to tell him how much that's messing with his head, and how much he actually needs Yatosuke.
(AKA, where Yatora's desperately touch-starved and overthinking, and Yotasuke just can't read people).

Yatora frowns and tilts his head. He doesn't like the tone of their voices. He figures that they don't like this Yatora, so he laughs and says, "My little cousin came over the other day is all. Wanted to dress me up."
He still gets teased anyway, but not with the hard bite of the first questions. It's still a little mean, he thinks, but it's not sharp and hateful anymore. So Yatora makes a little mental note: people don't like pretty Yatora. They don't seem to like pretty boys at all, actually.
