Shane stares down the medic, “Get a tourniquet on his leg and Cliff will leave but not a fucking second sooner.”
The other medic, a woman, starts going through their medical equipment bags and kneels next to Cliff. The loud one, a man, nods at Shane.“That’s fair. And other than holding his hand, what are you doing to help, Mr. Hollander?” Shane glances down at Ilya’s pale and frightened face. He briefly takes stock of what just happened. He’s on the ice holding Ilya Rozanov’s hand. He's in his regular clothes at a game he’s not playing in. He steels himself and meets the medic's eyes again. Fuck it.
“I’m his boyfriend. I guess I’m here for moral support. Give me something useful to do and I’ll do it. But I’m not going anywhere.”
Shane looks down at Ilya. He shrugs his shoulders and smiles tightly. He watches as Ilya goes from shocked to awed to joyous and finally to overwhelmed. His eyes are glassy and he swallows roughly. “Have I lost too much blood, or did you just tell someone you are my boyfriend?” Shane scoffs and smiles down at him, “A little bit of both. Just stay awake, ok?”

As it pertained to his sexuality, he’d crossed the Rubicon. And there was no going back. The man-on-man sex bell had been rung. But could someone tell by looking at him? Was there something different about his eyes or his face… or maybe his lips?
Shane brought his right index finger up and traced his lower lip. Immediately he could vividly imagine the feeling of Ilya’s soft, full lips on his, pressing and pushing; his tongue seeking entrance and Shane granting it.
Shane closed his eyes and sighed as he relived the way Ilya had (gently) taken his face in his hand to hold him steady as he initiated their first kiss.

"Tuna melt scene, but it's Shane that whispers Ilya's name, Ilya freaks out and makes Shane leave. Few months later, he's seen dating a model (if she looks like Shane, that's between Ilya and God). They date a little over a year, maybe. Ilya breaks up with her after he hears rumors of Shane dating a man."
May deviate a bit from the prompt. WIP and this is my first time ever writing/publishing a fic but the prompt was too fun not to try. Criticism is welcome as long as it won't make me cry!

Maybe it was, at first. Shane got to have it all, everything he wanted. But despite his willingness to go along with whatever Shane wants, he can tell it’s been weighing on Ilya. He’d given up everything, and Shane can feel how lonely he is. He can see his bright eyes dimming, his laugh growing hollow; he’s withering away while Shane is emptying everything he has into a sport that can never love him back the way Ilya does.

Two years after Ilya moves to Ottawa, Shane decides he's worth more than anything Montreal can give him. He won't let Ilya be the only one who makes sacrifices for their relationship. Author's notes: I’m autistic and see a lot of myself in Shane Hollander. So I thought, in this situation, what if he did exactly what I did the first time I hooked up with someone and didn’t know what the protocol was after it was over, what the next steps were, how to be like everyone else in a moment that felt amazing and confusing at the same time. What if he just asked?
Canon divergent from the first hookup seen in HR s01ep01. Some things are from the show - aged up Marleau and Hunter, mainly - but the timeline is a mix of both. (Notably, they don't wait *two years*, they stick to the book timeline. IYKYK.) Some tags are for later chapters.
