And with Jason as his English tutor, Tim found himself growing perilously close to the Wayne family. Although at first content to watch them from behind his camera, it was only a matter of time before he got invested.

Tim leans forward with his elbows on his knees. “Look, I’m not stupid. I know why I’m here. Everyone is overreacting, though. I’m really fine. Bruce is just paranoid.”
Brenda doesn’t react outwardly, but the space between her brows produces a faint wrinkle. “I think any parent would be worried to find out that their child has been cutting themselves.” Hearing it said so openly, like it’s a word that’s okay to use in real-life conversation makes Tim flinch.
Everyone else has been talking around it: Tim’s problem, or This situation. They never called it what it was because it’s not what they think it is. Tim isn’t doing anything more dangerous than what they all do every night. People get hurt sometimes; it’s an unavoidable part of life. Who cares if Tim has a few extra scars to go with the rest?

While he was the placeholder Robin, he was going to hold onto the position as long as he could. That left crime, of course. All that to say, Tim now had a full time summer internship (with competitive pay!), helping Red Hood take down Drake Industries’ brand new, highly lucrative drug operation.

Thankfully, Drake makes quick work of his tie, and Damian can breathe again. Then his vest is off, and his dress shirt, and his skin is free of the horrible, awful scratchiness he'd endured all night. He stills feels dirty, like theres a coat of grime on his skin, but he knows in his soul that showering would make it worse. Feeling the water against his skin, his hands pruning, his feet getting wet, the thought makes him shudder.
His tears have dried, and the consistent flapping has stopped, but he can feel himself rocking back and forth, and can't find it in himself to stop.

Conner didn't think Clark would ever notice. He wasn't very invested in Conner's life, it seemed. Half the time he forgot it was his day with Conner anyway. He had no reason to notice anything.
He had no reason to think Clark would ever find that lead box he had stuffed into the back of his closet. The one with those sharp green shards in it that Conner couldn't seem to part with, as much as he probably should. It was bad, he knew that, he wasn't stupid.
He just couldn't make himself stop.

The dilemma was simple: Billy was a superhero and superheroes weren’t supposed to steal.
It was literally his job to stop criminals, to bring them to justice. He wasn’t supposed to break the law and become a criminal himself. Heroes weren’t supposed to get a desperate urge to snatch up things that weren’t theirs just because they were there. They definitely weren’t supposed to get a rush of excitement when they got away with it.
But breaking the habit was turning out to be a lot harder than he originally thought.
