“What do you mean I didn’t fight five sea kings with only a dagger? I did!” The red-haired pirate asked incredulously.
“Benn shot half of them because you were drunk.”
“What? How do you know that! Benn, you swore to secrecy!”
“I didn’t tell him Captain.”
“Luffy who told you that?”
Luffy points to the shore. “She did.”
The Ocean’s voice snickers and Luffy mirrors it as the Captain looks between the waters lapping playfully at the shore and the kid with the grin like his captain.
It’s a funny look, the kind men get when they see a tsunami bearing down on their head with no hope of escape. The face goes pale and the eyes go wide, and nothing save for the ocean has quite managed to produce this look.
The Ocean is most definitely pleased with her child.
“Oh hell.” The sailor swears, and she nods her head in agreement.
Oh Hell indeed– but he will bring that and more.

It’s a quiet moment in the kitchen when Luffy takes Sanji’s hands into his own.
If it were anyone else (even a lady, Sanji admits) he would have pulled his hands away. But this is Luffy, his captain, who had burned governments and conquerors and tyrants for daring to harm his crew.
This is Luffy, his captain, who protects his crew’s treasures (hats, swords, tangerines, precious memories and books and shells -) just as much as he protects them.
Luffy knows not to harm.

Summary
Law is… not quite sure how he got here. Here, being the highest point on a dangerous mountain, some place in the New World, separated from his crew, with only Kidd and Luffy for company.
Here, being crammed into a ridiculous tiny mine-cart and about to plummet down a rickety rail-road track, with Kidd pressed against his back and Luffy pressed against his front, linked all together by sea-stone cuffs, and, again, about to plummet down a mountain half as tall as the Red Line.
Luffy is screaming happily. Kidd is screaming angrily. Law is currently wishing he had his powers and no cuffs, so he could have no ears and not be able to listen to this. Law has… not known peace in years.
Years.
How the fuck did he get here again?
Ah.

“I’m so glad you asked, I’ve been waiting for this!” chuckled Sabo, pulling the brim of his top hat lower as he grinned widely, sitting up with gray-blue eyes full of excitement.

When they’re on the forecastle, with the helm just behind them and the figurehead casting them further in shadow, Usopp calls, “Raise the sails!”
Luffy’s gasp next to his ear is the best part of his entire day.
The sails unfold in a great rolling crash of canvas. Even the striped gaff swings out, catching the wind. The whole sloop gives a powerful lurch as if she’s eager to sprint out of port on the back of whatever gale blows along next.
And painted on the foresail, bold and bright and proud, is a grinning Jolly Roger in a yellow straw hat.
“That’s mine,” Luffy whispers, hushed and awed.
“Told you so,” Usopp says smugly.
