Billy Hargrove’s fists had done their job well. He could still taste copper in his mouth and feel the warm stickiness of blood drying on his skin. His nose ached sharply every time he took a breath. But none of it mattered, because the only thing that did right now was keeping those little shits alive.

Eddie was really freaking bored and he was going to lose his mind if he didn't do anything to occupy his already spiraling train of thought. He was more alert and highly stung today, just waiting for the inevitable danger to approach his hideaway. Turns out that being locked away in a cramped boathouse in the middle of nowhere isn't exactly the best of situations to be in, especially when the whole town thinks you are a cold blooded, murdering freak.

Steve could hear the search party. They’d started up near the Byers house the day after Will was reported missing, slowly expanding out further and further into the woods. Their shouting—their begging—melded into white noise beneath the gentle susurrus of wind among the branches. Steve wondered if Will could hear them, wherever he was. Were he hiding in the hollow of a fallen tree or locked in someone's basement, maybe he could hear the hundreds of voices shouting his name and know that, no matter what, someone was searching for him.

The effects of that change ripple outward until a team of new friends and former enemies must work to find out what exactly is holding them all together and how to get a second chance at finding home.

Summary
Dr. Otto Octavius is returned, without the arc reactor, to 2022 rather than 2004. The Peter he reunites with remembers everything about their multiversal travels, as does Norman, and presumably, Marko.
Stranded eighteen years in the future in a world that believes him to be dead, Otto must relearn what it is to be alive. The only issue with this is that, quite simply, he doesn’t want to be.
But that is a thought best kept to himself, better to keep his head down and focus on the tasks at hand—copy editing textbooks, patrolling New York alongside Peter and Harry—and he does just that until a time-sick vigilante crashes into the Empty Sky Memorial Park during one of his routine patrols. They claim to be from the future, to know him, and Otto must figure out what disastrous circumstances have stranded them three years in the past before their future wreaks havoc on his present.
