He wished he could beat death for him but all he could do was lean in when Evan brought his hand up to gently caress his cheek, wishing and praying God would be merciful to let them have the time they needed. Regulus knew since he was young that he wasn't supposed to live past his eighteenth birthday. It was just a fact of life he grew to expect, grass is green, snow is white, and regulus black was supposed to die young. So, when he turned nineteen, he knew he made a mistake in thinking he could live Long, he could feel it down to his bones that his expiration date had passed, like the universe was trying to course correct the mistake of him being alive.
He could just feel it in his gut that he wasn't supposed to be here.

Midoriya Izuku is having a terrible day. He’s told to take a swan dive off of a roof, nearly suffocated by a villain, told he couldn’t be a hero by his favorite hero of all people - and all of that’s before he gets kidnapped by a giant, tentacled ship flying through the sky and has a worm put into his brain alongside a hero who tried to save him.
What in the hell is a quirkless kid supposed to do in this situation? The only thing he can, he supposes - try his best.
OR: A Baldur's Gate 3/My Hero Academia crossover wherein Midoriya and Aizawa are taken by the Mind Flayer ship as it attempts to flee the githyanki and both wind up in the middle of a plot concocted by an evil, terrifying cult. Midoriya wants to help, Aizawa wants Midoriya to stop running headfirst into danger, and everyone who meets them wants to know what the hell an All Might is.

Peter loves his friends. Which is why he had to kill them. And now, he's doing- well. Alright. Things didn't turn out exactly as he'd anticipated, but he's making it work. Living his life. As a rat. Mostly trying not to think about things.
Fine. Things could be better.
But he hadn't thought they'd get worse- which is exactly what happens when, three years after James died, he's come back. And for some godforsaken reason, he's decided to make that Peter's problem. (Okay, okay- Peter gets it. He did kill him.) Peter is sure that James is going to turn him in, ruin his life the same as Peter had ruined the Marauders.
But this is James. And he doesn't do any of that.
What was Peter expecting, really?
(Features: A lot of fighting, a lot of forgiveness, and a splash of necromancy. Alright, you got me- rather a lot of necromancy. But come on- we can't just have the ghost of Christmas James show up. Haven't you seen 'A Muppet's Christmas Carol'? There needs to be at least two more ghosts.)
