Things… change.
Ghost supposes that many would probably say that they get better. They do get better, don’t they? Yes, they do. Things change, and they are better. The Infection is gone, and Hollow is safe, and Hornet is happy, and so Ghost is fine. Perhaps they are selfish, and they mourn a dying world that they can never return to, and they are more alone than ever before, but they’ll get over it.
…And it’s not as if anyone will notice if they don’t.
Ghost goes back in time, kills the Radiance, and sets everything right. They tell no one, and do it on their own. It is only after their family is happy, and the kingdom is safe, and the Abyss is soothed to sleep, that they realize just how lonely it is as the last remaining piece of a future never to be.

The first time James Rhodes meets Tony Stark, Tony is a scrawny teenager, running across the lawn at campus, yelling curses, using a tea towel to try and trap a roomba-like contraption that is zigzagging wildly through the grass, until he trips over his own feet and faceplants. People laugh but Rhodey takes pity, so when the thing zooms towards him he lifts one foot and traps the robot underneath it. It beeps once and the wheels stop whirring.

Despite her open and well-deserved distaste for them, that woman was a politician at heart.

There’s a perk in having a fresh start, even if it means leaving the past behind. Having looted so many abilities that the things and people that once mattered to him have faded from his mind, it was almost as if the thought was made for Otosaka Yuu.
In some ways, perhaps it was for the best. After all, he'd heard enough to know that his pride was stronger without the damage his forgotten self had inflicted upon it.
Still, part of him wished that he could remember— if only to stop his friend’s and family's disappointment when they remembered things he couldn't. But, from the second his memories return, Yuu learns that some things are just too painful to hold on to.
Or, Otosaka Yuu regains his old memories, but part of him wishes he didn’t.

Everyone always says that dying is worst for the loved one left behind.
Sam has to assume that only applies when the person in question stays dead. Because his life has been a steaming pile of shit since his resurrection in the Egyptian desert. Mikaela broke up with him. He hasn't seen Bee in months. The Autobots are ignoring him. He's been exiled from college and left to the mercies of his overbearing parents.
But it's inevitable, really. If there's an Autobot disaster to be had, Sam will wind up in the middle of it. Maybe this time around it'll end up doing him some good. With every battle he ends up growing closer to the Autobots. Maybe this time he'll end up getting a second family out of it.
The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. Does that still apply when most of the blood is actually Energon?
And why the fuck have all the Autobots started bowing at him?

“No.” He shakes his head, refusing to believe Jihyun would be this cruel. “Jungkook-ah. This is not time for jokes. Jihyun wouldn’t— He can’t. What about Yoongi hyung? What would happen to hyung? What would he think? He needs Hyun by his side right now. He—”
“Jimin.” Jungkook grips him by the shoulders. “He’s not changing his mind. He’s already on the plane. Jihyun left.”
Taehyung swears but it’s muted, pushed aside when all Jimin can hear is the ringing in his ears.
Jungkook finally looks up at him, the helplessness and despair reflected in his eyes makes Jimin finally understand that this was reality.
There was no way Yoongi could ever forgive him after this.
(or in which; Jimin has a dumb ideaᵀᴹ and assumes the role of Park Jihyun, Yoongi's almost fiancé and his twin brother, when said brother runs away after learning that Yoongi is temporarily blind. Cue heartache and many, many tears.)
