Summary
The Winchester brothers are helping Cas and Metatron close the gates of Heaven, despite the fact that Dean can't bear the thought of never seeing Cas again. Dean forgets that angels can contact people by entering their dreams and makes some moves he would otherwise not make.
Or: Dean Winchester is touch-starved and tries to get some comfort in his dreams but even in his dreams he can't win.

Lucifer turns back. “Pardon?”
“You better kill me now. Or I swear, I will find a way to kill you. And I won't stop.”
“I know you won't. I know you won't say yes to Michael, either. And I know you won't kill Sam." Lucifer takes a step closer, briefly looking around the graveyard. “Whatever you do, you will always end up here. Whatever choices you make, whatever details you alter, we will always end up—here. I win. So, I win.”
Dean shakes his head, holding back his rage. “You're wrong.”
Lucifer smiles. “See you in five years, Dean.”

Ten years later, right after blacking out on that rebar, Dean wakes up in a dusty, rotten hotel room.

Summary
Dean's hard work as the sales and marketing director at Sandover is earning him a tidy living and he's on track to become one of the youngest VPs the company has ever had. And if he just keeps working his ass off, he doesn't have time to think about who he's working so hard for, after Lisa broke up with him and Sam got a life of his own and the family in Sioux Falls is doing just fine. It's a charmed life and it only seems empty if he stops moving.
He runs into a recently-fired single dad at a bar who's trying to drink away his worries. Castiel is frumpy, exhausted, and kind of a jerk. But Dean needs someone to take care of, and Castiel needs any help he can get. It's just a mutually-beneficial arrangement, and nobody needs to talk about their feelings.
Or, how an obnoxious workaholic twenty-something Sugar Daddy and his grumpy DILFy forty-something Sugar Baby fall in love.
