Dan Heng is silent as he approaches the table. Jing Yuan doesn't acknowledge him, doesn't shift from his position, but Dan Heng can feel the weight of his attention as Dan Heng sets out three cups and deftly fills each of them with a measure of rice wine. One goes to Jing Yuan, the other Dan Heng keeps for himself, and the third Dan Heng places at the seat opposite from Jing Yuan, laid out in offering together with the rice wine bottle.
It takes a long, long moment, but Jing Yuan finally lets out a shuddering breath and picks up his cup. He stares contemplatively into its depths before he downs the rice wine, and when he sets the cup back down his hand is trembling, so very slightly that Dan Heng only notices because he can hear the way the fine porcelain of the cup chitters against the stone table.
(Jing Yuan is a pillar of dependable strength to the entire Luofu. But when night falls and the gravity of his emotions finally seeps through, as it inevitably must, who will support the man upon whom everyone else leans on?
