So it was silly how insecure he was in front of Jiang Cheng, almost always too afraid like he didn't deserve him, and yet he would not let anyone else have him either.
"Will you still love me, Jiang Wanyin? Even when I become ugly? When I make a mistake?" There was something insecure about this man who held the world in his hands. Always asking for validation. Somehow always blindly grasping for something. But Jiang Cheng laughs, answering as if it was the easiest thing in the world.
Not knowing that with every "Of course, my love." Someone's blood is shed.
Slowly, Jiang Cheng learns that the crimson color in his lover's hands didn't mean blood, it meant love.

Summary
The bastard son of a courtesan and the Emperor, Jin Guangyao's cozy life is dependent on his skills as spy, assassin, and anything else the Jin Emperor needs him to be. But when a new Captain of the Imperial Guard comes into office, he finds this role far more difficult to fulfill given Nie Mingjue refuses to work with him. Wholly against everything Jin Guangyao is, it should be far too easy to ignore him and allow the man to remain in the peripherals of his life.
If only Nie Mingjue were content to remain there, in the light, without dragging him out of the shadows.
