“Other than Osial, are there any other gods that can resurface?” Childe asks. It is an innocuous question, acceptable from an international diplomat, but the way Zhongli pauses reveals something else.
“Resurface?” Zhongli repeats, fingers curled around a nicely steamed cup of tea.
“I read that there are gods sealed underneath us. Here. Waiting,” Childe says. The stars above them twinkle. None of it reflects in his eyes.
“Perhaps,” Zhongli replies. He closes his eyes and takes a small sip of tea.
It was a delightfully short answer.

He should have known, really, that Shadow Milk Cookie would be as flighty as ever, even after years of living in the Vanilla Kingdom.
It did not matter if he curled alongside the healer in bed, seeking out his warmth in the dead of night and never bringing attention to it in the morning. It did not matter that often he would bring Pure Vanilla Cookie a bowl of jellies, calming that his dough would grow brittle if he did not eat soon. No, it did not matter if Shadow Milk cared for him at all. At the end of the day, it would always be hidden behind barbs of wire, unwilling to bend even to his gentle touch.
That does not change the reality that Shadow Milk Cookie, with all his bravado and bite, liked to run.
Run he did, as Pure Vanilla has not spoken to the beast in two months since their last argument.

Somewhere between Shinsou tilting his chin up and wordlessly coaxing him into parting his lips, making the sensation of kissing suddenly more intense, Katsuki decides— this can be a thing that happens.
Shinsou can kiss him again if this is what it feels like.
or: Katsuki doesn’t know why the fuck Shinsou likes to call him kitten of all things.

"Tired," he slurs out and then falls forward, until his head rests on Bakugo's stomach.
"So let's get you upstairs so you can sleep in your bed and not propped up against me," Bakugo sighs out and Hitoshi must already be asleep, because there is no other explanation for the hand in his hair.
"'s not safe," Hitoshi mutters and feels how Bakugo sighs.
"I'm here, aren't I? It doesn't get safer than that," he gives back and maybe he's right.
Yeah, he has to be right, Hitoshi thinks, because Bakugo is one of the top three heroes and if he says it's safe then it must be.

Hitoshi calls him back immediately. And really, it is a sign of unfathomable love or delusion that Katsuki picks up on the second ring.
This time he speaks before Hitoshi can complain about what a neglectful boyfriend he is. “I fucking told you not to go out in the rain fucking naked like a loser and get sick. This is your own fault.”

They stare at each other for a moment before Bakugo raises his hands and puts them right on Hitoshi's face, squishing his cheeks.
He stays there, for way longer than is comfortable or socially acceptable and like he so often does, Hitoshi runs his mouth at him.
"Are you about to kiss me or snap my neck?" he asks, allowing a bit of cheek into his voice, even as he readies himself for a fight and normally it's enough to set Bakugo off but this time he only continues to stare at him, consideringly and all consuming.
"I could also explode your head like a watermelon," Bakugo finally says and Hitoshi is pretty sure that somewhere Denki makes a choked off noise of alarm though it gets lost under his own chocked off noise.
Though his has nothing to do with alarm.

Hitoshi fiddles with his silent phone. Ever since Katsuki went on that oversea mission messages had been scarce an in between and the different time zones hadn't helped either, but still, Hitoshi usually had something to look forward to waking up.
Now even that stopped.
It probably just means that Katsuki's mission has taken off for real now and he doesn't get to check his phone anymore but something uneasy still sits in Hitoshi's chest.
Katsuki is the spotlight hero. There should be no reason for him to go silent on a mission because he doesn't do undercover or infiltration.
That's more Hitoshi's schtick and so when he goes silent that makes sense.
When Katsuki goes silent? That spells trouble, in Hitoshi's opinion.

Now, Hitoshi would say that those instincts are wrong and that it's actually rude of them to act this way when he's not even doing anything (like the liar he is) but Katsuki trusts his finely honed instincts because so far they have never steered him wrong.
And when Hitoshi actually steps into the living-room, Katsuki tenses up in anticipation because Hitoshi is clearly up to something.
That's the face of a man who has done something.
"No," Katsuki almost immediately says, because no. Absolutely not. No matter what it is Hitoshi has done or is planning the answer is the same.

“Mmm- easier on the eyes?” Hitoshi goads just as Katsuki twists the connectors.
