Techno didn’t understand the fuss. If the pup wouldn’t eat, and wouldn't bond to any of the adult mers housed in the facility, it would die. That's just nature.

A glint of steel, the cold touch of metal kissing his neck as cold sweat began to run down his forehead. A purple ax, shining with a rainbow type of film covered the view of his feet.
He looked up and slowly made eye contact with the pink-haired man. He narrowed his eyes in return, black irises and white pupils returning his gaze. Clay immediately ducked his head, finding himself intimidated by his stare. But he couldn’t help but look back at him in awe, the heavy clumps of shouldered metal onto his body like armor.
The same purple material in his hand covered his body, but an unrecognizable red cape draped over his shoulders.
Gold jewelry adorned his body, a golden crown with multiple jewels embedded into it sat atop his head. And golden jewelry stayed hooked onto his ears, one connected from his ear to his nose.
‘Who the hell was he?’ Clay thought, scanning his downwards appearance.

“Uh— Phil?” The man calls over his shoulder, golden eyes never leaving Tommy’s face, “I need your help over here.”
Tommy bares his teeth, wings fluttering threateningly. He doesn’t want the man to get help, he wants him to go away.
Another man steps into view. This one is short and blonde, with wings a hundred times bigger than Tommy’s, and he’s dressed just as nice as the first man. He hasn’t seen Tommy yet; he’s looking at the big pink one. Mouth open like he’s going to speak.
Tommy hisses again, louder this time. And the man's head snaps towards him— which doesn’t scare Tommy. He doesn’t shrink back, doesn’t try to tuck away his wings with a whine. Because he’s big. He’s big and scary; nothing is scarier than him and he knows it, because he says it.
“Oh,” The man says softly, expression falling at his eyes dart across Tommy’s face. “Oh, mate.”

They’re too important to the war effort. But he has the contacts of a hundred Human criminals memorized forwards and backward. He’ll be okay.
Probably.
In the end, it's frighteningly easy to sneak aboard The Angel of Death. It probably wouldn’t be if Tommy didn’t have the teachers and family he does, so he’ll give them a pass this time. Once he’s integrated, though, he’s going to give their security a massive overhaul because he is a little insulted at how effortlessly he got in.
