Summary
“Frank Langdon, are you cheating on your wife with the new R2?” Robby asked him bluntly, not even trying to disguise the disappointment in his eyes.
Then Frank did the absolute last thing he should have done. He burst into laughter.
“Is this funny to you?” Robby almost growled, “you have a wife and kids at home! A wife who delayed medical school to have your kids and you go and cheat on her with someone you knew from medical school? That’s fucked up, man.”
Frank stood ramrod straight and shook his head furiously. “No, no, no!” he protested. “That is one hundred percent not what is happening. Mel is my wife. My only wife,” he clarified unnecessarily.
Robby’s anger simmered, his eyes now furrowed in confusion. “I thought your wife’s name was Abby?”
Frank’s face filled with horror. His face turning pale. It was then he realised that he’d fucked up. He fucked up so bad. Like a generationally bad fuck up.
__AKA the one where a family inside joke leads to the entire Pitt Crew thinking that Frank is cheating on his wife with, well…his actual wife.

When the cat eventually got comfortable enough to loaf on her lap, tucking its feet under its body, Mel decided that she was going to sit here with this cat for the rest of the night. Trinity and Dennis could have fun getting drunk. Mel enjoyed this a whole lot more.
Just as she had decided this, the door to the room opened.

Now that she was seeing them up close, Mel was starting to understand what drew Frank to these men - they had a very distinct, Robby-like quality, if Robby commanded an army instead of… well, now that she was thinking about it, he sort of did command an army. But he didn’t have as cool of a jacket, and he definitely didn’t wear a tricorn hat. (Although he’d probably look good in one…)

Summary
As Dana strides down the hospital stairs, she’s hoping to find Dr. Robby. However, when she turns the corner on the stairwell landing, Dr. Robby is not who she finds. She slams to a stop immediately, sneakers squeaking on the linoleum floor, and it takes her a long moment to process what she's seeing. In a dim corner on the next landing down are Langdon and Mel. Dana is far enough away that she can’t hear what they're murmuring to each other, but she can see well enough to catch how close they’re standing, and how Mel is looking up softly at Langdon, and how Langdon is running his hands up and down Mel’s arms in a comforting gesture, and -
Good god, Langdon and Mel just kissed.
-----
Dana accidentally sees something she isn’t meant to in the hospital stairwell, and quickly learns more than she ever wanted to about her coworkers.

He knew that her parents weren’t around, though he didn’t know why. He knew she took care of her sister. But, he wondered, who took care of her? Mohan, probably. And Santos. Even Whittaker to an extent. Well, sign him up. Put him in, Coach. He’d take care of her, too.
Or: all the ways Frank Langdon takes care of Mel King.

"Didn’t make any friends during orientation?”
She laughed- then stopped abruptly because that was actually not a joke. “Um…no. I don’t make friends easily.”
She waited for him to look at her with pity, or offer false reassurances. He looked mildly contemplative instead. “I think most people’s ‘friends’ are actually just acquaintances, anyway.”
Mel blinked. “You think so?”
“It’s important to remember that most people are bullshitting you like…at least sixty percent of the time.”
Mel wasn’t sure if this extended to him. If it did, would he tell her? Probably not.

“Sweetheart, where is Mel?” he softly asked, voice breaking at the end. Mel?
“Mel?” Robby asked. In any other situation, his face would have been comical. Langdon ignored him, giving the chief attending a taste of his own medicine from the past year.
Penny’s lips curled, tears pooling at her eyes. She was about to start sobbing, and Trinity yanked the sides of the gurney up, getting ready to move her inside. “Mel’s hurt, Daddy.”***
When Mel is in a serious car accident with the Langdon kids, its up to Trinity to become everyone's favorite emotional support coworker.

Summary
She gets her scrubs off and a pair of sweatpants on. When Frank calls to her, “We don’t have shells, is spaghetti okay?” her entire night is rocked, her body reacting before her brain can at the subtle change. The request would be perfectly normal for any other person, but it leaves Mel shirtless because her executive functioning gave up, her sport’s bra squeezing tight around her chest as the panic sets in. Her body settles into nothing but upset, and her lungs start shaking with tears that won’t fall. “Mellie?”
As soon as the bedroom door falls open, Frank finds her standing at the edge of the bed half dressed, a shaking hand to her mouth as she tells her body, it’s fine, you’re fine.
When Mel finally breaks after her shift, Frank is there to remind her it's not stupid that it's over a bowl of pasta.
