Lewis purses his lips, then pulls the invite away so he can read over it again.

Lewis can’t help his scoff. “Seb.”
“What?” Seb asks innocently. “You are 38 now, surely it is time to settle down.”
“And get some bees?” Lewis asks wryly, flipping the invitation over so it’s face down.
Seb shrugs. “There are worse things.”
Lewis struggles to swallow down the lump that’s suddenly formed in his throat. His shoulder aches, a phantom pain that his doctor says is more psychosomatic than ongoing complications.
“Yeah,” he agrees quietly. “I guess there are.”

Half an hour later, when the bus takes a sharp right turn, Heathcliff's body leans along with the force. His shoulder ends up pressed against Baoyu's arm, head following, falling limp against Baoyu's shoulders. Coarse dark hair tickles at Baoyu's neck. Baoyu glances down to make sure Heathcliff is secure enough that he won't slide forward and hurt himself, then looks back out at the passing scenery.
"Next time Clockhead leaves the room," Heathcliff mutters under his breath, which is the first indication Baoyu gets that he isn't asleep, "I'll nip in and nick my rifle."
Oh, dear.
Heathcliff gets stuck in a Mirror World ID. Hong Lu is not a very good babysitter.

"I don't get off on mutilated bodies, you bloody wanker," Heathcliff interrupts, horrified and already self-consciously angling his body away from Hong Lu. "It's—" He sometimes gets like this after a job goes really well. He doesn't do anything about it, that would be weird, but it's just… a physical response to the adrenaline or some shit. But he can't explain any of that without sounding completely mental. "—none of your business."
"Yes, of course," Hong Lu says, the placating tone conveying what he isn't saying out loud: that he fully believes Heathcliff gets off on corpses but is graciously letting him save face.
Heathcliff and Hong Lu have a chat after a job.
