  1. A Series of Kuusuke Character studies by

    Fandom: 斉木楠雄のΨ難 | Saiki Kusuo no Sai-nan | The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

    Summary

    A series of six different takes on Saiki Kuusuke, focusing on his relationship with/misadventures with his brother Kusuo. Each one can be read independently, and there is an overarching story between all of them.

    Here they are (in order of current level of completion):
    Innovative!Kuusuke: complete (may be updated), Amoral!Kuusuke: complete (may be updated), Obsessive!Kuusuke: wip (this one’s gonna be long), Good!Kuusuke: wip (also gonna be long), Sadistic!Kuusuke: wip (going to be shorter), Manipulative!Kuusuke

    That’s in a word; basically I pushed aspects of his character in several different directions. There's a slow plot creep as different versions of Kuusuke begin to communicate.

    Kusuo manages to save Japan from that huge meteorite, and begins to want to live a peaceful life again alongside his powers, which he now has better control over. But, obviously his peace of mind never lasts too long, and he ends up finding out something that turns his life upside down again.

    The loss of his powers was something he had both prepared for his entire life, and found himself completely unprepared to receive. The familiar energy brimming at his skin, threatening to burst through the fragile layer, finally drew back. With a jarring tug, he had been pulled from the blinding dark depths under the ocean of power that encased him, suffocated him with its crushing weight, which now seeped away as a foreign lightness flowed in to take its place, the crowded voices filling his busy mind washing away, to leave… nothing. Absolutely nothing. Just blissful, lonely silence.

    Yet as he broke its surface, the ocean flooded his senses—the quiet whispers of worried parents, the ticking of the hands of the clock, the whirr of the inner machinations of surrounding devices and rumble of the neighbours car in the garage—all were blanketed by its high tide, diminishing into nothing more than muted hums.
    -
    Finally given the choice to do away with his powers for good, Saiki goes through with it in favor of the normal life he always wanted—only to find out that his sense of hearing was a byproduct of his telepathy. Will he figure out how to adjust to his inexplicable situation without his friends noticing?

    Kusuo had never really given serious thought as to what mysterious force was constantly putting him and Teruhashi in more and more inexplicable situations together. After all, he was more concerned in outmaneuvering her ploys than wondering what caused them.

    That is, until one day he met a boy who was a spitting image of himself, only with blue hair.

    ‘So, you’re the one behind all of this?’

    “Yup. And you know what? It’d be really cool if you could stop trying to erase my existence,” the boy crossed his arms. “Dad.”

    Dad.

    Kusuo felt like he was going to faint.

    A interesting and charming take on Saiki and Kaidou's characters. Saiki's inner voice is done well.
