There are so many rumors that circle around about Jaskier’s origin, and Jaskier himself pretends not to know any of them. He doesn’t confirm or deny a single story, and it leaves the royal courts intrigued. The rumors are his armour so that no one sees his truth.
No one has ever guessed the truth of Jaskier’s past, because who could ever guess who he is. Who could know his name is Julian? Who could know that his family was lost in fire, but that he hopes every day that he will find them again?
Jaskier's mother sent her son through a portal to keep him safe, she didn't mean to send him through time. Alone and scared Jaskier meets his family even if they don't know it's him.

Touching someone who's meant to die before their time results in horrible, immersive visions of exactly how it happens. When he's rescued by a good simaritan who's death is by far one of the worst he's ever experienced, he's going to have to push past his fear and go against every rule he's given himself to prevent it from happening.
