Because Max was coping. She was so much better than she had been before the holidays, the time off and time physically away from campus helped her realign herself. Moses had been the perfect doting best friend, which meant that Max was able to give him enough space to grieve and work through what he needed to. Her patio had been a hotspot for late night hot chocolates while staring at the stars, even if Moses had complained about the quality of her telescope.
And it truly had helped her worm through any antsy and disgusting feelings that bubbled deep in her stomach from the memories of the storm, both new and old. Moses’ insistence on studying her powers had made it feel more real and something that was actually a gift and not just a burden. He had been so careful with each of the tests, sending over his plans, hypotheses, and conclusions every single research session. Enough mugs had been broken, fixed and broken again all the while they talked about everything she had learnt during her time on the road.

“I want her, Tyrion.” Daenerys says seriously. Turning towards him fully, with an edge to her voice that wasn’t there before. That is... new, Tyrion thinks.
