This is a linguistic analysis and guide for those struggling to write dialogue for characters like Minos and Gabriel, who speak in uncommon and archaic styles. Early Modern English is a notoriously difficult style to write in (speaking as someone who's into FFXIV… yeah…), so I thought I might create this resource for those who would like to use it.
However, don't sweat it if your writing isn't perfect! Not even Ultrakill's writing uses all the correct forms, and characters change how they speak depending on the situation (looking at you, Gabriel). Your creativity is what makes your writing interesting, not whether you used "thine" correctly, and the main way to get better is to practice!
I'll also be including characters that have similar speech patterns + compiling all of each character's lines (except for most combat lines) for your reference!

This is a fanfic that I have read a long time ago. So long, I haven’t used this website as my main hub for fanfiction and still used Fanfiction.net at the time!
Well, it’s more like around 2018, but still.
This story is a redemption story with a ‘save the world’ subplot (?) with a focus on the Dark Star from Bowser’s Inside Story. You know, the one who took Bowser’s DNA and became another version of Bowser with a black Mohawk?
Thing is, I was interested in this little guy ever since I saw him in a compilation of all bosses from that game because that’s what I used to watch back then when I was a little kid. Didn’t watch the whole thing, just bosses.
Then I discovered fanfiction.net and decided: hey, how about I look for Dark Star fanfics?
And then I found one. It’s this one, It’s beautiful, and I fell in love with it.
If anything, this fanfic might be the inspiration for my enemies to friends/redemption fics, resulting in the dynamic where a cheerful mortal befriends an edgy anti-hero/villain/ancient evil, like Kirby and Zero in Project Demon Dream & A Light in the Void, and Boyfriend and Hank in Rest From Madness.
In short, this fanfic is my inspiration. It’s what I wanted to write… minus the save the world thing. I never liked writing action scenes anyways.
If you’re wondering, yes, I created a melody for this fic. I was also thinking of turning said melody into an anime theme song. In fact, this is the first fanfic that has a melody created for the fanfic.
Well, it hasn’t been updated for a long time. The fact that the author is currently going through college doesn’t help matters (but understandable). But he did say that he is going to update, but no promises.
I am thinking of making an audiobook of this, but I was too lazy to make it. Plus, I only have the built-in microphones on my devices, and I heard that they are not good.
Anyways, go read the fic. It’s a masterpiece. It includes a birthday party that does not go south.
wranglers, please canonize the dark star tag, please, I beg you
