Izuku's expression shutters. He hesitates, sucking his lower lip between his teeth in lieu of immediately giving an answer; his gaze slides somewhere to the right, even as his cheeks flush a damning shade of pink, some secret he's keeping tall as a wall between them, and -
Oh, Shouto thinks, devastated. He was right, after all.
He was right, Bakugou had confessed; Shouto really has missed his chance to tell Midoriya how he feels about him, that he loves him. He's too late, too late, too late -
And rather than heartbreak, a strange sort of numbness settles over his shoulders.
Shouto overhears Bakugou confessing his feelings to Midoriya. It kind of ruins his night.

Taking a deep breath, Izuku says, "Shouto, I - I promise I'm not trying to make fun of you here. I'm really not, but - but that absolutely, one hundred percent does not mean what you think it does."
Shouto blinks at him again, so stupidly pretty Izuku kind of hates him for it.
"It doesn't?"
"Friends with benefits means that you're friends, yes - but the benefits part suggests that the friends are messing around with each other. It implies that they're hooking up."
Shouto stares.
Steeling himself, Izuku says, "Like, that's the benefit, Shou. It's sex."
He stares, and stares, and stares, the wheels behind his eyes turning impossibly slowly, and when it finally seems to sink in, when he finally looks like he understands the enormity of what he has told the media is happening between him and Izuku, he sinks back into the couch.
"…ah. I see."
Then, a moment later, he follows this assessment up with a resigned, quiet, "Fuck."
Izuku snorts out a laugh and pats his shoulder.
"Yeah," he agrees. "Fuck."
Todoroki accidentally tells the rest of Japan that he and Midoriya are having sex. It's not the worst thing Izuku's ever experienced.

“Does it - ” he begins, then hesitates. Eijirou looks up at him, eyes wide, and he swallows. “Does it ever scare you?”
“Does what scare me?”
"Having a child.” Shouto's eyes flicker down to Satsuki, hand in her mouth and lolling back against her father’s chest with ease. “Having so much responsibility on your shoulders.”
Eijirou’s smile is soft and kind, and more understanding than it really ought to be. “It’s even more terrifying than being a hero. But, honestly? Saving an entire office block of people or catching the villain you’ve been after for months is nothing compared to holding them in your arms for the first time.” He pauses. “Is that something you're considering? Having children?”
He swallows again. "It's less that I'm considering it and more that I'm afraid of it," Shouto tells him, and the strain in his voice is obvious to them both.
Shouto has complicated feelings around fatherhood. Izuku has all the patience in the world.
