The fucking end. The close of the book. The final shaky breath in, of smokey, acrid air before everything fades away. The fall and every scattered sensation that comes with it— shock like your heart just climbed into the back of your throat and made a home there, and the equally horrible acceptance, the knowing.
Standing so close to the edge might not have been worth it, after all, the last thought before the impact.
The end. It’s been a long time coming.all good things come to an end, but there really are very few permanences that don't feel like curses. the trick is learning to survive it all, and maybe you'll find yourself a life in the rubble. is all i have to say for myself.

Summary
He slowly sways to the melody of the song, a look of enjoyment washing over his face. Will backs out of the apartment parking (Way more skillfully than Mike ever can, he’ll admit he sucks at driving) And heading down the road at a steady speed. Mike rolls down his window and lets the wind kiss his hair for the first time today.
Half-heartedly facing the door and window, out of the corner of his eye he can see Will staring for a moment before he returns to focusing on the road. Mike noticed the haste of the car slowing down as they hit a red traffic light. An emotion swells in his chest, yet he pushes it away and looks down at his feet, perfectly still and rested on the ground floor of the car.
“Do you like this song?” Mike asks, something to just start up a conversation. Silence feels unbearable even if it is comfortable. He just feels as if he was born with a curse sometimes, like instead of Ariel losing her voice—Mike is given more words than he feels he can use.
or: Mike is settling into college. Until a case of matchmaking throws a wrench in his plans and he has to fix them. (And he finds out he's in love with Will, who's counting?)
