“I need a date.”
Sanji’s head bats back and forth between the kitchen and the galley. He’s got Zoro pressed up against a wall, forcefully, unlike whatever song and dance Zoro was playing with the rando outside. Sanji fists Zoro’s long coat and looks him dead in the eyes. Well, eye.
Zoro blinks owlishly at him, the vein clear on his forehead for all of a second while he processes Sanji’s declaration. “You want to date me?”
“What? No—” Sanji could vomit from the absurdity. He’s one step away from strangling Zoro with his own haramaki. His cheeks burn, and even he knows how stupid he sounds, but there isn’t a universe out there that exists where he sounds dumber than Mosshead. So, his jaw tightens. “If we do this, I need a date.”
“Okay,” Zoro says, “so, like, a fluffer—?”
“NO!”

“You’d like me to schedule a date for you and Keith?”
Shirogane’s expression is unreadable, and James grips the arm rests of his seat tightly to mask his surprise. There is absolutely no way Shirogane can be poking fun, can really mean what he said in a humourous way. Instead of answering, James finds himself caught in the worst kind of stasis. He is too close to reaching for the glass on the table, before reprimanding himself because it’s not even his water to chug for lack of something better to do.
“Go ahead,” Shirogane gestures to the glass. “I can tell you’re thirsty.”

"The people who keep showing this on national TV are worse than clingy exes," he says. "It's been two weeks! Everybody moved on. Nobody cares anymore. Television guys always cry about losing watch-time since streaming went global, like, geez, I wonder why."
For some unfathomable reason, the camera shifts even lower, showing off the curve of Childe's throat and the cut of his jaw. Scaramouche is so outraged he sputters in his seat.
"Why the fuck would anyone want to watch this?"
Lumine snorts. "For the same reason you haven't switched channels yet."
He throws the remote at her face.
Or, Scaramouche's lived his whole life stuck to the global platinum band called The Harbingers. When he finally severs the ties, he doesn't expect to be propulsed into another, lesser-known band that's everything the Harbingers was not: warm, kind, and infused with bubble gum pop.
In parallel, a minor indie celebrity who's orbited around him for years crash-lands into his business and categorically refuses to leave.
Tartaglia Childe is a pain in the ass. Simultaneously, the first person to ever slip so far past Scaramouche's walls.

"What am I doing here again?" he asks the tall person in white standing next to him. He can't get a bead on them to pin them down gender or ethnicity-wise. They seem to shift everytime he looks straight at them.
The being says, "Taking stock," or at least Eddie assumes they say it because at this point there doesn't seem to be a mouth that can move to do that with. He curls his fists, mad at something he can't even name.
"Of what?"
"Of your life."
